Just got a purple tip magnifica recently from my LFS. It is very healthy, Sticky tentacles sticky base. It recently move itself to the highest point of the rockscape(typical Magnifica action). But it is get weird reaction when the light is on... It becomes very mushy and like dying, but after lights off it is back to its inflated self.. Not normal right?

Mags are like any other photosynthetic animal. They need time to acclimate to changes in light intensity. I don't agree with most of the stuff you read about these anemones. They don't need to be blasted with massive quantities of light, like most authors suggest. IMHO, if you're seeing negitive effects with light exposure, the lighting needs to be reduced. Try shading the anemone with window screen.

typically a magnifica that deflates during the day and looks great at night....is not doing well and in my opinion not related to lighting. in my experience, magnificas with this sort of behavior do not live much longer. maybe two more weeks or so before deflating for the last time.
as for general lighting guides for anemones, magnificas in particular....they will take as much light as you can provide. if you dont think you have enough wattage, they will greedily accept more.

I agree with Jordon and EC,not a good sign at all.These anemones are very delecate and,honestly,dont do well with people who dont have alot of experince with anemones.Like EC said,these anemones like any other phytosynthetic animal,need time to adjust,but IMO,IME it shouldnt deflate and get mushy during the day,makes no since.And like Jordon said,its sounds like its in critical condition.What are you water parameters?
It really makes no sense, It was very healthy when I bought it and this is not my first time keeping Magnifica... But it is the first Magnifica in my new tank... Parameters are fine...
Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and Phosphate are at 0...
Have not checked my Ca,KH and PH for quite long... Will do a check tonight..
