Lighting 125

I think I answered my own question but figured I would bounce this out there. I am contemplating the acquisition of a 125 (72x18x22) and am planning on lighting it with the following:

3 x 250W MH (10000K)
2 x 96W PC actinics

What do you think?

You may want to up the actinics to 4 to give you that extra pop, but other than that, it looks like you're on the right track.

250 mh will work great, but instead of pc try t-5, less heat and power, better output, and longer bulb life. i have also set up 125- 180 gal tanks with just mh using 12k- 15k bulbs.

I'm in the same boat as you! I'm setting up a 125 galon reef tank and selling my 75 gallon that I have now. All my lighting is pc's. So as you guessed it they are going as well.
I decided to go the pendant route using (2) 250 watt 14000k hamilton bulbs and (1)400watt 14000k hamilton bulb and (2) Actinic pc's. If I need more intensity, I will add another 250 pendant but with 1000watts on my tank, I thimk it should suffice! I'm sure my Acroporas and Montiporas will appreciate it!!
