i have thiese ballasts that i can't ID properly. i want some new bulbs but i can't match it to snajay's sight.:D the ballast reads---ARO electronic ballast (M59) model lmh 220-400. yes they are 220v no problem there. my question is are they elctronic ballasts that are equal to a m59 magnetic ballast? i have run xm20 k+reflux 12k on them but without know what exactly it is. its kind of hard to make a decision on what my next bulb will be. looking for a bluer bulb. i know radium-rigth, swapping them out every 6 months is not going to happen. if i can get a cross to one of sanjay's ballasts then i can make an informed decision. any help would be great. thanks john

"M59" is an ANSI code that tells you that it is a400w magnetic probe start ballast :) Just google "M59 ballast" :)

On Sanjay's sight, look at Mag ballasts...there isn't a huge difference in mag ballasts as they are all ANSI rate and have to fall within a certain spec range.

What Jeff said. If you want to run the Radium 400s, you going to need either a pulse start M135/155 ballast, or an electronic. I just switched from the XM/M59 combo to the Radium/M135 combo. Couldn't be happier with the results.

here's were i'm confused--why does it say ELECTRONIC on the ballast? i understand its probaly rated as a M59. just wierd that they would call it that. BTW it is electronic--its small like my icecaps i had previosly. so may m59 is just how its rated?

Can you post a pic??? Preferably one of the ballast, and one of the nameplate on it....that would help ID it ;)
