Lighting question, T5 vs VHO

Armando, trust me on this one...T5 doesn't come close to making corals flouresce like vho. I also would like to see the two side by side though. It would be a great thing for a store to do!

So you guys think a combo of 2 T5s and 2 VHOs would be good?

I would get either of the two because "T5s are so great", etc... but VHOs have been around for so long. VHOs do use a lot of power compared to T5s... but due to the fact that they have been around for so long I would think the spectrums are much better with them then T5s....

right?

Hey, wouldn't it be AWESOME for FMAS to spring for a light meter (especially with that $700 haul from the last auction) . We could pass it around the club and collect some real data for member tanks. It would be a great answer for the question "Do I have enough light?".

I think the club would love to buy gadgets for the members to play with, but the truth is we can't. The club has spent just about the same about of money it has made this year. The money earned on membership, auctions, etc is spent on speakers, rentals (pavillions for picnics, building for frag swap, etc.), speaker system (for meetings), tank hop expenses, supplies for the school tank, food for meetings, etc.

Wishful thinking....

Maybe if enough people are interested we can start up a pool on the side? An apogee unit goes for $250. I'd be willing to throw in some money.

hey Chris I was/am running URI full actinics & will hopefully switch at the weekend

well I switched to the T5's yesterday.They definately are bright,but like Chris & Jeff said,they do not flouresce like the VHO's.I used the full actinics & will probably try the actinic/blue combos next time.
