It seems only the DE version has been tested. I also await the 14,500K megachrome 250wattDE.

I have the full collection of the latest Giesmann Lamps and they are currently being burned in.. and hopefully tested sometime early next year.

Burning lamps is my biggest bottleneck. I can only burn in 2 at a time, and at 100 hrs of burning time... the days quickly add up. I have about 15 lamps waiting to burnin.. so that is almost a month or more of just burn in time, if I burn in the lamps all the time - which I do not.

Some day I'll get there with the data you are looking for. :)

Sanjay, when will you update the website so we can compare all of the bulbs in 175 watt study? Right now it only list the XM and Aqualine bulbs.

Thanks

I typically wait about 6-8 weeks after the data has appeared in the online magazine before posting any data on the web.

Sanjay,

IÃ"šÃ‚´m from Brazil, and you test for us the Venture 6500k....Thank you very much !!!!!!!!!

I have a doubt....in your opinion, what is the best SE 400W 10K bulb ? XM or USHIO ?

And 250W SE 10k Bulb ? XM or USHIO ?

IÃ"šÃ‚´m setting up a new 160G and IÃ"šÃ‚´m in doubt what kind of bulb should I go. The reef will be a only SPS

ThankÃ"šÃ‚´s

Roberto

Quick Question...are Ushio and BLV the same? I thought they were but I had a friend that had Ushios and swapped them out for BLVs that he said are much bluer and nicer.

Herbert it depends on which bulb you are talking about. The new 14ks are the same. The older 10ks and 20ks are different. Sanjay has tested the 10ks already and the BLVs are typically 1-2k higher. ie the Ushio 250w 10k DE test between 10-11k and the BLV 12kish.

Roberto, Sanjay didn't answer you, but to the best of my knowledge he's using the
EVC 10k which is surprisingly white for it's testing color temp of 8k.

From IceCap:
Re: Iwasaki 175W Aqua2 14000K Mogul Base bulbs.

We have a case coming in this week. Four are going over a local tank and I'll get some pictures.

Hi there....

Does anyone know if Sanjay or anyone else was able to test the lumen output on the Catalina Aquarium MEtal halide bulbs.....

either the mougl or the HQI......

Catalina Told me that they sent bulbs to Sanjay.....

Would two 250 retros be enough for a 72" mixed reef tank and what reflector, ballast and bulb would you recommend ?

Thanks for the advice.

I have not recieved any lamps from them yet.. other than the one 400W DE I picked up in Miami this last week.

It will take a while before I will get to them given my current back log of lamps and other real work.

Yes, that would be enough for a mixed tank.. especially if you layout your rockwork according to the light distribution.

As for recommendations.. you are on your own, but you have access to the data to make your decision :D
