Has anyone ever gottent heir little giant external return pump
partially submerged and find it trips their breaker? I let it dry out hoping I will be able to restart it. Or did I totally kill it by letting it get wet in standing water?

Not a good sign that it tripped the breaker. I know it seems a bit counterintuitive, but if it continues to trip the breaker after drying out, try flushing it out with a little fresh water to remove the salt residue. Make damn sure you are using a GFCI when you try plugging it back in, or you could energize the metal outer case and get a major shock!!!!

I heard once that electronics submergeded in salt water could be "revived" by flushing in fresh water to remove the salt and then flushing in rubbing alchohol to remove the water. Seems the alchohol evaporates very fast. Haven't tried it though.

Watch out for rusty bearings. I dropped a dremel advantage in my tank while cutting out for an external overflow. I promptly cleaned it out with freshwater but one of the bearings rusted badly. Everthing else is in good shape but I still haven't gotten around to replacing the bearing.

FWIW... I repair cellular phones all day long, and from my experience with both fresh and salt water and electronics... most are done. You have to deal with things like corrosion and rust... even months down the road. If it got wet while it was on, you have to deal with things like electronics shorting out, and corrosion forms after the water dries.

If you have some electronics cleaner (Rubachem for example), or alcohol, you can give it a try. A good brush comes in handy as well for making sure you get everything. Alcohol or anything alcohol based is going to dry VERY quickly, which is a plus.

Hope that helps.

nope its toast, goign to get me a poseidon this time, 1000 gph was way too much also, had to throttle back downon the ball valves almost 75% to get less than a roar on my overflows, so this time i chose a 800gph model.

i have a genx pcx40, a quiet one 5000, or a rio 2100 you could use in the meantime if you wanna borrow one of them.
