Cheers

That's not copper tube is it? I just came across this thread and saw that.

Lol you guys. It does look like a copper color and sheen in the one pic, but it's vinyl. Doug's waaaaay more experienced than I am. He wouldn't put copper anything on there.
Like today when I saw a pic of a guys new setup and there was a metal hose clamp on the filter intake and it was touching the water just ever so slightly. And I was all ":-0 Dude, get that metal clamp outta there."

SisterLimon most people call me April My mom and others calls me the Spanish way because they only speak Spanish. My mom's and other people have always pronounced it and written it that way.
Either is fine. :)
As that movie says Just don't call me Shirley. lol.

Last night we found out that we had a 4-5 inch bristleworm in the empty snail shell that the palys were growing on. So we decided to cut the Palythoa mat from the empty snail shell. So we got a container of water, a pair of gloves and an exacto knife and when we were done detaching them we found another baby bristle worm and two aptasia near a part that looked like it was dying.
And there was a crab too bothering the palys too.
Then we put just the palys back into the tank by gluing it.
Then a few minutes later they weren't open but they looked much better. Not drooping anymore. Their stems are all standing up now and you can see a small part of all of the polyps faces.

Oh, lol, he's probably talking about me cursing because the bristleworm was irritating my palythoa. But honestly, it's just that the worm was just too big for this size tank, about 5" long.
The other inverts would do their thing but the one (pig) hermit crab would compete with the bristleworm for food in that one empty snail shell, so they'd both be trapsing all over the palythoa colony. The palythoas were like "Um, hello." :hmm5:
lol

Don't forget to take tons of pictures of your zoas/palys!
I'm hoping to have only zoas in my new 40g so keeping a very close eye on your thread :reading:

Hello from Norway! :)
I definitely will take a picture of the zoas and palys when the palys come back out.
Since you told me what you would like your tank to be like I have seen pics of two reef central members tanks to show you that you might like.
...be right back and I'll post some link to pics of those tanks.....

Those are both amazing tanks! I will read through their articles while I wait for my sand and live rock to arrive (always fun when you get a 2 week delay, especially when you just can't wait to get started!). I love how all those zoas together make it look like a real garden, won't notice any fish with all those colors! I'm worried all my zoas will turn out brown and boring :hmm2:

Looking forward to seeing more of your tank

Thanks much :). What kind of lights do you have in mind to get?

I bought a cheap used aquarium, a 150w Aqua medic oceanlight MH (14k giesseman bulb) came with it, so almost the same as you! alot of the really awesome zoa tanks seem to have bluer lights/and or combos to bring out the color tho so that's mainly why I'm worried. My tank is about 18,5'' deep.

1 zoa colony, well its 2 small heads cost around 90$ at my LFS and they're closed so almost no idea what color they will be! Wish I could have a CITES free day :lmao:

Really like the big cave/horseshoe in your aquascape, will look amazing when covered by all things good! Do you plan on adding more different types of zoa or just grow the ones you got?

Yes, i plan to add a couple more colors of zoas and a couple more colors of palys. And then i want to keep some lps; Lobo, euphyllia, cynarina. Maybe another mushroom called St. Thomas mushroom.
And a fish. A royal gramma loreto.
Those are good bulbs you have! The Phoenix 14k are good for zoa coloration too. Seapug in the first link used those on his tank. It also makes them grow fast because of it's above average PAR, so it's the best of both worlds in my opinion. I always here good things about the Geismann too.
The Phoenix are a crisp white blue. Im gonna start supplementing light during evening for more of the blue actinic type color by using two of the blue led which we've been using for moonlight viewing only.

Here's the mystery mushroom its growing or stretching or something.
Where the blue arrow is pointing in the second picture is where he seems to be doing something, dunno.
When we first put him in some days ago

Jesse that's what I was wondering but it's not soft tissue at all, it's as if someone glued over what once WAS a smaller one at one time.
Could be getting ready to do the pedal laceration thang. Then you'll have two!
That'd be so cool. That is one crazy mushroom.
