So this SPS fell behind some rocks and sat there for a few months. I know what a idiot. So now its been out and on my frag rack for about 3 weeks and no change. It has not gotten any worse but also not really any better. so do I cut all the dead parts off or leave it alone? Thanks in advance

I was thinking about cutting the dead tips off but leaving the base. I really dont want to frag this one if I can help it. Out of room for frags

anyone else chime in. I will frag it if need be. just trying to get some of my frags to be colonies instead of just frags. I know this one is a pretty fast grower.

cut dead base off and glue heathy skeleton back to frag plug? I would remove the dead skeleton off the tips that are dead still a mini colony just minus the dead stuff.

I say cut the dead tips off only. Those grow so fast, in a few months you'll never know anything happened to it.

Cut away the dead tips to avoid that algae that is growing off of the dead tissue. Pocillipora will not grow over dead coralite skeletons.

I had a similar issue with my tank(Tank Crashed) about 3-4 months ago, my corals looked like yours. Some of the corals have grown over the dead tips Red Plant and Ponape Brirds, while others have stayed stagnet Green Birdsnest. I would just cut them off, if I had to do it ovrer again. Dead tips are ugly.

i cut the tips last night. I know the base will not repair itself but will it hurt it? If not I might leave it at least until it is ready to go on a rock in my new tank. Now if you think it will continue to loose flesh from the bottom up then I will cut it now. Thanks again

How many different birdsnest are there. I have 4 others that are called a birdsnest 2. Or is that just a common name for the way it grows. Sorry but I am pretty new to keeping SPS
