Lizzie's Crabby Little Tank

Very nice, Lizz. I have a little Yellow Clown Goby that I inherited with my new tank and I've never seen it try to jump. Having a tiny fish in there would contribute to the movement. I think the real challenge of your tank will be keeping corals from getting too big. I know that's a problem for me in the 60 gallon. I don't have the guts to frag the Bubble and it's getting waaaay too big! Congrats on your lovely little nano.

Thanks Eileen - I'm still keeping the little yellow goby in mind - maybe I should do a poll to see if anyone has had one jump :)
As for coral growth..... So far I don't have any big growers in there - except that gorg, and I think even I could frag that - just with a pair of scissors.
I could be surprised though - and I'll definitely keep that in mind for future additions!!

Very nice work! Love the mini's!

Thanks! Those little minis are addictive :)

Wow, I honestly thought I was looking at a 20G or bigger until I looked back up at your description. Great job.

My fish vote is for a green clown goby. :)

Thanks! I'll look in the green clown as well - I think they're adorable, but didn't someone just post a thread that they were eating corals?

It is amazing how much you have going on in such a small tank. Very nice.

Thanks tent boy!

very great looking chance, how much did it cost you to make the tank if you dont mind me asking

Thanks Jed - let me see.... I kept my receipts for a while, but I actually made the tank last summer, so I don't know where they are any more. Plus.... sometimes it's nice not to know :)
The glass was about $50. Add to that silicone (10ish?), black paint + brushes, tape, caulking gun..... not too bad for the tank actually.
The hood however, was a money pit - and I didn't actually end up using it. So make sure you know what you're doing with all the different aspects of your project before you invest in materials :) :)

wow that is great.. i might be moving into an apartment and i would sell my 75 gal and make a cool little tank like that in my apartment. great job

Look who came out!

Look who came out!

I added another filter for more flow and the blue maxi-mini came back to the front! Yay!

At which point do bristle worms turn into a problem??

Those maxi-minis are very cool. I saw some at ABC Aquarium recently and was very tempted but I need to do a little research first.

Very nice Lizz,

I also think a green clown or citron goby would do well and probably not be a risk to jump, but even without any fish it is still a great tank!

I'm happy to see someone else get such a big kick outta this stuff!

Is it possible not to get a kick out of watching a prickly worm stealing food from a little shrimp??

The maxis have proven to be pretty easy to keep - seems like they can adapt to varying degrees of light and flow - and they love to eat!

Thanks - I think I'm going to end up keeping it fishless. I remembered a couple reasons for that decision lately. 1) I can't cover the tank, there's a rock jutting out the top and 2) I would worry about the maxis eating the fish!

New addition today :)

New addition today :)

Hi there - got these mini fan-worm colonies today.
I'm pretty excited about them - they look great in the current :)

Thanks :)
I do dose phyto - twice a week for my little yellow cucumber. Although I think I'm going to start dosing three times to keep these guys nice and healthy!
