I think you're best off using the forums and articles on the seahorse/pipefish web sites (syngnathid.org and seahorse.org), since the knowledge is pretty constantly changing; but if you want books, Kuiter's book is a pretty good basic, Tracy Warland has a book if you can get it, and there's a great book on syngnathid diseases, treatment, and prevention called "Working Notes" sold through cafe press (can find in the "store" on seahorse.org).
