i have a Long Tentacle Plate Coral. the tentacles won't entend out anymore and it has bown string on the surface. what happen?
how can i help?

The long-tentacle is more difficult than the short, but I don't know how much that says: my orange plate is a glutton and always extended.
Best thing to do for it: full light, on the substrate, reasonable flow---it can't feed itself if its tentacles are blown flat-over.
Params: 1.025 salinity; 8.3-11 alk; 400-420 calcium; 80 temp.
Give it a slice or chop-up of table shrimp, applied directly onto the disk. This should wake it up.
Make sure it's not being hassled by any fish.

if my LTP has not been looking so hot or opening fully I usually put some food by the mouth of it, and it will eat it and perk back up and look nice again.

If it was a brown string coming from the center of the coral, then it was pooping. I wasn't joking. :)

If it was an overall brown coating on the surface of the coral, it was an infection. I have seen this many times for LTP, as they are more difficult corals to keep.

You can feed it anything like cut up silversides, krill, or anything else that is meaty with enough mass for the coral to hold.

Yes. I figure people-shrimp are pretty clean. Dice it. I include shell, since whatever's in it is probably good for the tank.

I use shrimp from the grocery store. You will just want to make sure it is uncooked and has no preservatives. :)
