long tentacle plate

I've had a long tentacle plate coral for over 6 mo and it doesn't seem to expand it's tentacles much. I can't find a correlation to any tank fluctuations that it is reacting to. All water parameters are good with the exception of elevated po4 levels which I'm getting under control.

It seems to always be at about half inflation and will occasionally (maybe once a day or so) shrink it's tentacles completely. It eats well and I feed it about 1-2 times per week.

Anybody have any thoughts as to why it might do this??

What do you feed it? brine shrimp is what mine liked. But mine would do the same thing, getting bigger/smaller through the day. It like moderate flow, not too high/low.

It seems to eat just about anything I feed it, but I ususally feed it pieces of krill or aquayums.

I just picked it up to move it to an area with less flow and I noticed it has a bit of tissue recession around the center on the bottom (nickel sized). I've got it on a soft sand bed. Any thoughts about why it has recession underneath? Could parasites be the problem? I've never seen anything but I can't look underneath any time I want either.

Anyone ever used a dip on plate corals?

Doesn't the rigid end of the PVC irritate the coral also?

Any tips tricks or specific techniques for using the PVC?

Anyone else set their plates on PVC?
