Shipping may turn any healthy gig into a sick one. So treatment may be required anyway. And if that particular gig was treated before your treatment may fail due to the bacteria being resistant to Cipro.
I recommend to get Cipro (= Thomas Labs Fish Flox - regular or forte) to be prepared to treat and just order a cheap gig from LiveAquaria or Blue Zoo. If it arrives sick just treat it as described in the stickies. With LiveAquaria you even have a 14 day warranty, which should be enough to know if the gig is pulling through or not. So there is actually little risk.
I'd go opposite of that, I prefer to find a healthy gig that is acclimated to aquarium life. I don't want anything direct from the wild, lessens your success rate imo. The cheap ones that LA usually are just brown, every now and then you can get a colored brown with purple tips but probably not common.
