Looking for info on Acropora Efflorescens

Does anyone know of a site with detailed information on keeping Acropora Efflorescens? I've been googling, but I haven't found to much about it. I mostly found sites selling it.

Basic info on caring for and growing frags of this coral. I know they need high turbulent flow. One area of confusion is lighting. Some sellers say they need med light, other high and some say med - high. What have you found to be best? Do they prefer daylight bulbs or 12K+ ?

My 1x2" frag has some polyps, but they don't extend very far. I think I read the polyps on these corals are very small.

They don't need high flow. Moderate turbulent is good enough. (granted that depends on your definition of high flow). As far as lighting. They are totally fine with medium-high light. However you will see a difference in colouration depending on the morph. I've found you typically get richer purples and more contrasting colours when efflos are placed under lower lighting. Under higher lighting you get brighter colours and possible quicker growth. As far as bulb specturm that's more up to what you prefer. I've seen the same acro frag almost a lime colour from somebody who groes them in an out door system turn purple under a 20k.

Are they considered shallow, middle or deep reef corals? Doesn't that play a part in determining how to light them?

Yes and no. We are talking about the different between inches in our tank. In the ocean it's feet and upon feet. Also some corals are capable of living in a range of depths. According to Veron efflos are from "Steep reef slopes". He doesn't state if it's the upper or lower part of the slopes. If it's steep slope I would believe the depth can range rather quickly. 2 piece growing on top of each other can be 10-15 feet apart if the slope is steep enough (in theory). Which matches my experiences that efflos can tolerate a wide range of lighting. I currently have efflos in the sand of my tank, and on top of the rock work, both doing equally well. There is a guy on here Mark###. Whom has the same efflo growing up high and down low in his tank and he shows the difference in colouration between the two pieces depending on placement.

Where would you place them if you had a 90 gallon with 6 bulb T5 retro lighting 5.5" from the water's surface?

I've got a 65g (which is the same size as a 90 just shorter). I have them on either end of my tank and are the first to move when I have a more demanding coral I need to use the space for. They really aren't picky at all. if you water parameters are good/stable, you have good water movement I would pick whatever location gives it the best room to grow out.

Thanks. I've currently have it at the top of my rock wall 7" from to my Green cap monti. Both are under 5" of water. So, it sounds like it should have plenty of light to help it grow. Water conditions look great so far. As for flow, I have 2 Korilia 3's, which I hope put on a wave maker and a tunze 6060.
