Basic info on caring for and growing frags of this coral. I know they need high turbulent flow. One area of confusion is lighting. Some sellers say they need med light, other high and some say med - high. What have you found to be best? Do they prefer daylight bulbs or 12K+ ?
My 1x2" frag has some polyps, but they don't extend very far. I think I read the polyps on these corals are very small.
Are they considered shallow, middle or deep reef corals? Doesn't that play a part in determining how to light them?
Where would you place them if you had a 90 gallon with 6 bulb T5 retro lighting 5.5" from the water's surface?
Thanks. I've currently have it at the top of my rock wall 7" from to my Green cap monti. Both are under 5" of water. So, it sounds like it should have plenty of light to help it grow. Water conditions look great so far. As for flow, I have 2 Korilia 3's, which I hope put on a wave maker and a tunze 6060.I've got a 65g (which is the same size as a 90 just shorter). I have them on either end of my tank and are the first to move when I have a more demanding coral I need to use the space for. They really aren't picky at all. if you water parameters are good/stable, you have good water movement I would pick whatever location gives it the best room to grow out.
