I have some bad news. Anemones just don't disappear. Check your overflows. If it isn't there. It shriveled up into the sand and in the process of decaying in your tank most likely. I have never seen a haddoni recover from something like that. I hope its in your overflow. Otherwise, its gone.

They can completely pull under the sand. Maybe that was all that he did. Anemone just don't disappear in our tank, even in my 400 g tank.

Roll each rock and check in all the holes, then dig through the sand to within an inch of the glass, then check the overflows and sump (if you have them). It didn't jump out, that's for sure.

If it was that small then it more than likely was one of the mini carpets, which do tend to move sometimes and prefer the rocks or will burry foot in sand at the base of a rock.

+1. When he mentioned it was small, I assumed it was a mini carpet and not a true haddoni. To the OP: I've had a mini maxi go missing for weeks, then show up all of a sudden. Just be patient and hopefully it'll show up -- but check the rocks instead of under the sand.

Size of a quarter, it highly unlikely that it is a Haddoni. I hope you did not paid more than 60.00 for it. There is a flood of this small red carpet on the market lately and these are not Haddoni. There is a thread on this here recently with lots of pictures. You may want to do a search for it. Any picture you have of him will help clarify the species of your anemone.

Didnt take any pics...at first, I thought it was a bright red ric with a green center....however the LFS guys told me otherwise. I did some research and the underside was significantly lighter than the top and it has hundreds of tiny columns of bubbles on it

Did it look like this?

Its a true mini S. Tapetum...Only about 1.5-3 inches max! Small little guys. I have a few and it likes to get in the rock as it is a rock dweller. check the rock closest to where you last seen it.
