Got any idea what this is?

It came with a batch of rock I bought off from a friend. I'm thinking candycane because of the stalk but the polyps look more like a Blasto (A real deep red with the green center)

The only reason I didn't think it was a duncan was because of its lack of tentacle looking things. That pic is just a bit smaller than actual size

I'm thinking candy cane too. There is a variety with a neon green center and brownish edge. Use a turkey baster to blow a little food at it (frozen mysis, cyclopeeze, or arctic pods) and see if you get a little polyp extension.

The edge is really red. I wish the pic came out better. They are hard to make out but there are similar polyps all the way around the one on top.

The polyps look blasto but the skeleton looks like a candycane because it grows more like a tree. I thought blastos spread relativley flat.

edit: Not sure if it matters but this thing has wicked texture too. Even the center is really lumpy looking

I would think when it gets comfy and expands a bit you should be able to tell the difference a bit easier..I have that combination of candy can(I think) and it really is more of a pink with aqua center. If the colors are pretty strong I am leaning towards a blasto also..hth

if this is the same type you are talking about..

This pic of a blasto from Diver's Den is exaclty what my polyps look like:

Same color and texture but mine are on a branch skeleton. Do blastos grow like that? The previous owner said that when he got it, it just had one polyp on the top and the others have slowly been forming

I don't have any blasto's but I don't see why not..could be like a torch or something..as the head splits so does the "stalk"..nice freebie..:)

If it's really tiny it's probably Blastomussa Merletti (sp). If it's larger then Blastomussa Wellsi. I love Blastos!!! Especially when they start to grow out they become kind of a bouquet. Very cool.
