Ted - I shot some closeups and bounced them over to you. Take a look and let me know if they help or not.

Thanks! Yes they are helpful. Again, awesome work and the more details the better.

Cya,

Could post the close up pictures, I love the way to mounted the vho's. Just hard to see the details. I have two Luminarc that I haven't mounted over the tank because I have not come up with a way to mount the vho's yet.

Thanks
Jake

Good to know I'm not the only one with this problem :). I'm thinking an easy way to do it would be to simply screw two 2x4s coming down from the top of the canopy. This would give you something to mount the ends to. Not pretty, but I would think it would work.

Thanks that help out a lot.Is you tank in the wall?
It is. We have a 135g custom built Starphire from Miracles Aquariums in the wall with a separate support room off the back.

Are there such things as clip-on actinic lights so that I can clip them onto the tank and not the reflector?

Not that I've seen. However you could very easily make a rack that is suspended off the top of the tank to hold a group of actinic bulbs. I've even seen tanks where the bulbs are held up by the edge of the tank and the endcaps hag over the edge.

I'm considering Lumenarcs for an imminent upgrade and am curious about the mogul base connection. I only have experience with DE halides (SLS plug, PFO plug, etc.) - how does the wire connection work for the SE bulbs?

For example, is it no big deal to connect the mogul base on the L3 to whichever ballast I choose - EVC, IC, etc.- or is it worth it to buy the anonymous ballasts that Pacific Garden Supply sells with the Lumenarcs?

Input is appreciated, pics would be even better :)

uhm my 65 is gonna be 18 width, think i can still use the LA3s or should i just not try since it looses light a bit?

Nathan - The L3 Single ended fixture just has two stub wires coming out of the mogul. Attach your own Hot, Neutral, and Ground wires for what ever ballast you want to run.

Excellent! Thanks Doug, that's exactly what I was trying to figure out.
