LUNATIC FRINGE-Duel 500g tanks, 1600g total

I agree with the 2 separate systems. A guy near where I'm from who owns a store has his fowlr plumbed with his reef tank. And the 'messiness' of the fowlr screws up the stability you want for a reef tank. Beautiful build

Thanks.... there are a few things I have done wrong or would change....like the holes I drilled through the marble floors down to the first floor fish room. The Drill bit was a 1/4 bigger than the 2" pipe...nice and snug...mistake. I should have made the hole bigger. Even though the pipe does not touch the sides of the hole...and even with caulk around it...I still get vibration traveling up from the pump and I can feel it in the floor...

However, separate systems I would do every time.

I don't have a passport, but thx for the vote of confidence. Please say hello to Peter and Shawn at MACNA for me.

I would suggest that you cut out a section of 'rigid' PVC near the pump and replace it with a section of 'flex' PVC ... That should reduce the vibrations.

No doubt..thought of the same thing...but I cant find anyone around here with 2" flex PVC....online ordering is very expensive because of shipping cost.....but you reminded me I need to start looking again....

Try savko.com for it. I've ordered flex and ball valves from them in the past....great prices and fast shipping!

Good suggestion. Though their website is circa 1999...lol... I could buy smaller quantities than 50' and still get it shipped with a reasonable price.

Yeah their site could use a little updating for sure. I used their flex and ball valves on my last build and was very pleased.

Nothing will ever be perfect especially with a specialty system like yours

Yeah I try and tell myself that...but maybe someone can learn from all my mistakes...

Few things:

MACNA: If you have a chance to go...GO....not sure it is an every year event at least for me but it was certainly worth it to go once...lots of great people...info...tons and tons of frags for sale...I think one of the other big events is in orlando next april/may...going to go to that one...

I moved the gold tanks closed loop from under the tank all the way down to the fish room. Killed another drill bit making a few more holes in the floor...but I like it down there....going to move the other one at some point....Ill post pics when I get back from spain...

Heading over the pond right now....Currently over Atlanta to JFK to Barcelona then Madrid...going to find some reef stores when I get there...

Lastly, I had my security guy add a security cam in both the tank room and the fish room. I now have live access to view both..and I love it...LOL....

if i remember correctly DanFeig was in spain last summer and found some nice reef shops. Send him a pm for the info!
