I had plans to buy your LED bulb at first. I've been using white HD flood lights for years. I was talking with a Kessil rep and they recommended the H series over freshwater light. The purple magenta color include red, and blue lights. Covers everything macro algae needs.

I have the ARID for chaeto. So I plan to grow some different macro algae for a show refugium. The Kessil is mainly for looks and sleek design. maybe useful in the future for other plants ;)

Oh that's good. I never called and asked kessil. I almost bought a freshwater model too, good thing I didn't. Interested to see how it works growing macros

Show refugium?? Wow, I gotta see that.

that's the "plan" haha.. some red purple green macro algae.. but we'll see how it turns out.

drain plumbing finished... working on returns today.

connecting these 2 sumps was a PITA.. good thing I can fit inside the sump.

Sump and plumbing look good bro! [emoji1303]

Just checking, you are running a gate valve for the main siphon in your bean animal overflow? Make sure the gate valve is close to the over flow box, NOT close to the sump.

Also make sure you cut the siphon pipe about 1" under the water level in your sump. Otherwise the full siphon will never start.

Thanks. Whats the reason for having it next to the overflow instead of sump?

I have it next to the sump now to look cleaner. But i can switch it if needed

plumbing's on wait again... the return pump hole was drilled smaller. waiting on John to come fix this.. one thing about John at AA is he's always... late..

anyways. upgraded the skimmer on coral QT. still testing out with some corals before putting everything in. also need to scrape those algae off..

started mounting the APEX station. Display with Amazon Fire tablet. Going to have a black acrylic box built to mount all the APEX modules. the box will cover the outlet

Looks like your sump has a roll of toilet paper in it. It's a dump sump.

lol.. the Rollermat is pretty much an expensive toilet paper roll.

I'm hoping next week. Literally just waiting on John to drill this hole and connect my return pump. and he bailed on me twice already

I would have to look it up, but I think it has to do with being easier to adjust. The further away the gate valve is, the more it fluctuates. Idk, Something like that. Not saying it won't work, but I remember reading about wanting it as close to the overflow as possible.

thanks gotcha. I kinda remember too. This is years ago from reading hundreds of pages on the overflow thread.. I think being closer, it's faster to trap the water and create the siphon.

anyways. John came to my house at 11pm last night and fixed the hole issue.

time to continue plumbing. should finish return by tonight. Then it's time to test the overflows

Here we go. Sump is here. Thanks to John at advanced acrylic.

Sump was divided in 2 for easier fitting. Entire back roll has different sized holes for equipment plumbing. Also built a few controller holders. John will come do all final fixing after

Left sump: 3 sock holder, sock silencer, theiling rollermat section, skimmer section.

Right sump: refugium, biorock box, return section, dry section, uv holder, dosing containers, dosing tubes holders.

The dry section gets no water u less the sump overflows. Act as another 50gal holder. Ill put the calcium reactor and ARID inside.

Im interested in how the theiling rollermat. Way cool idea. Is it a cloth that you throw out after its all used?

it's a type of fleece, 20g/m² filtration pore size.

Basically water filters through it until detritus builds up on the pore and clogs it. Water level will increase inside, moving the roller. The roller will rotate the "toilet papers" until water can pass through clean pores again. The discarded fleece will be rolled up above water level. This way detritus won't build up like an old filter sock. after a few months, just toss out the roll and put in a new one.

I plan to test out the rollermat along with socks. But it's mostly for vacation preparation. Remove the filter socks and attach the rollermat

finished basic plumbing! time to cycle :)

I'll work on the manifold later.. waiting on more parts from BRS.

getting crowded.. playing tetris and leaving room for future plumbing. Depending on how loud this gets, I have silicone hose ready

I was thinking Mandarins and Ruby Scooters in the future.. not sure what else for sand dwellers.

I'm on the fence with my diamond gobies.. they do a great job cleaning the sand, but irritates all the frags on sand bed. and they are impossible to catch after..

any other suggestions?
