m0nkie's 560gal

Congrats on the black tang. If its the one from PIA then you got a good one. My baby yellow belly regal angel that i got from them over a year ago is doing great and eats frozen, pellets and flakes. Those guys up north sure know how to condition fish. I think they still have four gems. Maybe get one and introduce the black and gem together and move the purple to the sump for a week or two. My plan is to introduce black, gem and purple together here in a bit.

Those are nice pick ups. I say get a gem tang now while they are relatively "cheap" lol

ya that's the plan haha. hoping to see an auction soon.

thanks! yup that was my solo bid lol. black tang is eating and looking great! I was amazed at the Gem prices. not many bidders for those either

I finally setup the Genesis system.

system is impressive! not too hard to install once you read the instruction menu a few times. You have to decide on 1 of 3 modes and install the sensors accordingly.

the company.. not too impressed. first they forget to send me some important wiring. their top of line package does not come with enough suction cups. a $1000 system requires me to buy extra suction cups.. they also sent me 2 ball valves that were the wrong size. took a while to finish installing with all the back and forth..

How many gallons a day will you be changing?

Any idea how far you can pump the water from? I want to set something like this up eventually, but want my mixing bins in the garage which is about 50' away.

I'm setting mine at 5 gallons a day. 150gal a month so that's about 1/6 water change. I'll probably do a manual WC in between to get all the detritus.

They come with a small Eheim pump and a ball valve. You need to set it so water pumps out at ~1gal/min. Mine only travels about 5ft horizontal and 7ft up. ball valve is about 90% open. You can replace the pump with a larger one to delivery water further. Just mess with the ball valve after

I think a litermeter may work better for this application

Did you find cheato? I will have some today when I harvest the ARID. I know it's full because I can't see light lol

Hey thanks Rik! I actually built a small reactor and stuck the tiny bit I had left in it and it's gone wild. I'm creating more than I can manage at this time due to my small sump size  can't wait to upgrade this tank and build a larger reactor.

did a quick shot of the fish in the morning. getting along just fine. the Tusk is a little aggressive on new wrasse. the angry purple tang has been removed.

how do you embed video on this forum..

not really. I give them whole krill or chunks of squid. they can eat something size of a quarter and keep munching on the 1 piece. powerful teeth crunching sound, but not messy.

I only feed frozen, so I don't consider those meat juice messy..

so some updates!

been busy with the Dastaco install lately. Finally got it fixed. issue was the Peri pump. I'm still in the testing phrase.

I got some new fish.. pictures later
