m0nkie's 560gal

found my Linkia starfish reproduced. It's been in my tank for about 1.5 years now. 2 months ago it split 2 legs off. today I found the mother and the leg. The leg has a few tiny baby legs coming out. I'll try look for the last missing leg.

Wow, I don't know of anyone who can keep a linkia alive longterm much less have them reproduce! Do you know what they eat? "Film" is all that I keep hearing haha. You need to put a blue one in too!

I think there are a few factors. I can't be 100% sure

-tank size.. I tried Linkias years back in 150-200gal tank. They wouldn't last. Did some research and folks with 400+ gallons seem to be able to keep 1 alive

-variety of algae. I couldn't keep the blue Linkia alive during the first 2-3 years of this tank. They eat the film and algae on rocks, but those algae disappear when coralline takes over. I added 200lbs of Tampa Bay Rocks. Those rocks brought in a huge variety of mix algae, corals and critters. and it spread through out the tank. looks alittle more "wild" now. and noticed the starfish fatten up

-I do see Linkias eat Asterina starfish on occasions

Tony, where's the lennardi?

You need a few clowns in there...no tank is complete without them.... lol

The Lennardi only comes out at night. I have yet to see it come out during the day. I want another female version but not sure about having another night fish. lol

as for clowns.. too many already. I have about 10-15 inside

I used porcelain tiles as frag disks. most are about 4" cube. there are 2 full slabs in the center.

I think this is tank is more for me to get that top down view.. I really enjoy SPS that way. can't get it on my DT...

lighting.. not sure what combo.. but for sure MH is part of it.

MH + T5 + Reefbrite

or

MH + Reefbrite

Don't look like much rock u have in the sump

ya these are clean new rocks. Only 30lbs to get the tank cycled. Then I buy 100lbs of TBS live rocks from the ocean. I really liked those in my DT. grew a variety of weird stuff. so I'm hoping the 100lb live rock will speed up the algae cycle stage.. need it SPS ready within this year!
