1. Please park anywhere you would like lol

2. If you are a hotel guest you will have a discounted parking for the day $12

3. If you are not a hotel guest it is $20 for the day

Figure it like this you are getting in free and you are getting 15 raffle tickets for free so thats like paying $5 for the raffle tickets :):):)
 
That's not surprising, almost all large hotels do this now. For those of us who are staying, $12/night is a decent rate.

It stinks, but there it is.

Just because it is a nice place and charge a lot for the room doesn't mean that they should charge a lot for parking! :headwally: $20.00 a day for parking is a lot. :uzi: Regardless of the tickets and getting in free (I don't need to shop for 3 days!) we are still VOLUNTEERING! You might get more volunteers if it didn't cost $20.00. That is less money for corals, fish or supplies and less time with family or other fun thing. Suprised something better wasn't worked out for the volunteers.
And yes, I am very aware of what hotels usually charge for parking.
 
Let's break it down..

you get to be on the frontlines of MACNA.. the most well known, biggest event of the year in our hobby. Your helping out your local club. Your get to stay for free after your shift + raffle tickets.

I'll pay the $20. :)

Don't get me confused, I don't mind the 60$ for the weekend, was just surprised that it was a common practice to charge when you have a room. I am not complaining about it in the terms of MACNA or FMAS. Not really complaining at all, was just surprised.
 
If you volunteer at events enough you will know that they always get you for a few bucks. Remember the hotel is a business also and they are going to have thousands of people flowing in and out who are not staying. Many of them are going to spend lots of money on coral and other stuff but not a penny at the hotel. Yet all of these people will enjoy the amenities and thus the hotel recoups their profits (don't get me wrong I don't like the $$ for parking either) but it is business. I volunteered at a PGA event for a few years and they made you buy shirt and pants for $60 but you got free entry to the event.

$20 for parking at a hotel on the beach is pretty descent. Head further south into Miami and some hotels charge you $60 for the day.

You don't have to park at the hotel. Look down the street there are parking lots you can go to that I'm sure are half the price.

As Matt stated those are the parking charges. If we were able to get them waived or reduced any further we would have.

Regarding it being the Westin Diplomat, yes most higher end hotels charge for parking. I've had to pay as high as $50 per day parking for some places.

I promise you, regardless of the parking, it will be worthwhile. Macna is like no other experience. This ain't no frag swap y'all.

If you can car pull to reduce cost I encourage it. Don't miss out one of the biggest events of our hobby! Take a look at the vendors and speakers. It's a who's who of the hobby.

And they get 4 hours of our time! I thought I would point that out since it wasn't pointed out earlier.

Guys this is where your going.........your getting a free day pass and 15 free tickets.....if you were going to come to the event you would have been paying the $20 anyway unless you were going to walk LOL ............so not sure how that is a cost at all 4 hrs (which you were going to be her anyway) + $20 Parking (which you were going to pay for if you came anyway also) for your whole day at MACNA that's a savings LOL

MACNA posted on their facebook page yesterday that they negotiated a deal with the hotel. Say you're here for MACNA and parking is only $12.
