macreefsters 70g pic thread...

since i started dosing vodka today i figured it was a good time to start photo docmenting it. i just tore the tank down last week to remove my bartlett anthias. i loved the fish, but they were just too rambunctous and one of my females turned into another male causing a lot of aggression between the two males. i figured they'd be better off in a bigger home. i am still trying to figure out what to replace them with.... any suggestions?

here are some pics shot in automatic mode. they don't seem as sharp to me, but they represent the color of the bulbs much better. i am still experimenting with the manual color balance settings.

let me know what you think....thanks

Lookin good, how do you like that vortech there on the side you arnt blowing any tissue off any corals over there are you lol. Looks really good and nice colors.

Nice aquascape!

Did you use rods or PVC or anything to build the islands/pillars or just fit the rocks together?

This is going to be very nice once it grows in a bit.

how much vodka are you dosing? Im currently on my 3rd week of dosing vodka and im doing 1.5ml per day. What other supplements are you dosing?

thanks so much everyone. your input and comments are greatly appreciated. i'll do my best at answering questions, i wish i knew how to the quote thing to answer them better.

volcom69..... thats why i use two vortechs, so i don't have to turn them up so high. the one towards the back of the tank amongst more corals is only at about 25%, the other is at like 85%.

dustinp..... i'll get some equipment shots up later today.

gioNVA ..... tank dimensions are 36"x24"x20"

justinreef..... just a little epoxy to hold the rocks together where needed.

PUGroyale.... its packed all right and in time i'll be culling out corals that just don't make the cut. i had a tank crash last summer so this has all been added since nov '08.

reefer08.... i am on day two. based on genetics article i am starting with .4ml a day for the first three days and increasing to .8ml after that. i am ordering some brightwells amino acid and microbacter7 today so add also (per sonnys recommendations). i'll document and changes with pics.

Sweet tank.....how the hell did you just tear all that down to get a fish. I won't even take apart my 29 and I want to take half my shrimp and fish out of it haha.

Your tank looks fantastic! Wow, you really have the corals packed in there, eh. :D

I love the aquascaping. It gives the tank a real sense of depth. I like the way you have the rocks built up on the left side. I may have to try something like that in my tank.

The blue coral at bottom center in the last picture is sweet! What the name of it?

thanks reefer..... i did it the old fashioned way, took all the corals and rock out! i had 9 anthias to catch, no way to do so otherwise, they'll hide in any crevice they can. besides, it was an excuse to re-do my rockwork...lol.

someone wanted equipment pics. please excuse my messy spaghetti jungle of cords. one of these days i'll get around to organizing them. all my equipment is crammed into a converted closet behind my tank, so its tight in there.

i'll post pics of the same corals in two to four weeks.

sonny..... thanks. your tank is amazing, i hope to get close to the colors you have.

that blue coral looks like a tort to me. it was a maricultured piece i picked up a couple of weeks ago. here's a close up pic of it. i could get you a decent frag of it if you want.
