Hey this is Travis (Mr. T) I'm on my friends computer...

Anyway I woke up this morning and my water is still cloudy from the macro and all my pods are dead. When I recieved the macro I did a fw dip and then put them in the tank...have any ideas what happend?

Hey Travis,

Make sure there's some strong circulation. The FW dip wasn't needed as I do that to all but the chaet that is usually full of pods and worms that would be harmed by it.

Will adding a refugium with macro algae cause cloudy water?
If so, why???

I'm currently setting up a 50 gallon and I'm waiting on some chaeto.. (spaghetti algae). I'll have a pump send water from the sump to the fuge and then gravity feed back to the sump.

Just macroalgae in the fuge. No sand, LR, etc..

My goal is only nutrient export (nitrates).

I hope you don't mind me jumping in on this thread, but this is the second time I've found a post about macroalgae in a fuge causing cloudy water which has me concerned.

Thanks.

Travis,

My thinking is the additon of macro's caused a low O2 problem without quite enough circulation to prevent it. This is what most likely killed the pods and led to the cloudy water. I think with a partial water change, and the increase in circulation you made, the water should return to clear in a couple days time ;)

SamsonNY,

No problem jumping in. Make sure you have adequate circulation and just add about a good handfull...let it grow out to it's accomodations ;)
