hey guys, we all know that mounting a tunze stream in your tank is not the easiest thing to do, and if your like me next to impossible in a Aga tank due to the lip, so i was force to lay the tunze pump on a rock, next i tried the "tunze" rock it didnt fit well in my tank, and i didnt like it.

So heres what i did. On Taam rio pumps they have this suction cup backing, it uses 3 1inch suction cups, it clicks into the rio, so i had 3 of these laying around, Bingo, theres enough surface area on this suction cup thing to super glue it to the back of the tunze stream, at first i tought the tunze would be too heavy, or the super glue wouldnt hold, well after 5 days, no moving, no troble on two tunze 6100 pumps, i took the suction cup thingy superglued it to the back of the tunze, let it cure, strenght tested it, and then just stuck it to my tank wall, moved it easily into position, and both have stayed put for 5 days, i will post pics in a few minutes. I got the backing from a Powerhead 402, i used Zap super glue gel, and cured it for 30 minutes.

Cool!

Very brave of you though to use suction cups. I don't trust them at all. It WILL let go eventually, and the rubber will harden over time.

What you could do, is glue the bracket type idea to a strong cleaner magnet, maybe a cheaper one that doesn't float (cuz well, it won't with the stream on it!). Then you can move it around at your leasure, etc.

I've done that with the MJ1200 powerhead brackets on a cheap hagen magnet.

Good luck!

This is a bad idea. We don't offer suction cups for a reason and super glue won't cut it. If you have the proper install kit 3000.244 it is very easy to install these on an Oceanic or AGA aquarium.

Nice Mike, those things are huge!!!! Do you get good flow with them? Mind me asking how much you pay for them?

They are big, yes im pretty sure there is a great reason why you dont offer the tunze pump with suction cups,if it lasts it lasts, if it doesnt, it falls on my rock and i figure something else out.

Rebels, i get awesome flow with the pumps. but as its been stated mounting these stupid things is a adventure! Oh btw i dont know if you noticed, but my Name is Peter :)

Pm me so i can tell ya what they cost me

I am also having a problem mounting the stream in my 55 gal tank. I bought the 3000.244 kit, but the hardware is too big to mount the stream on the side of the tank because of my canopy. I currently have it mounted on the back of the tank (in the corner) and have the stream pointed diagonly across the tank.

I still haven't figured out if I want to find a way to mount it on the side of the tank. I think it looks better in the back corner and when the stream of water hits the front glass it goes everywhere!!!

I've been using 2" diameter suctions cups on my pair of 6100s to great effect. I did but a dab of silicone on them for insurance purposes.

I'll have to take some pictures of mine. It is mounted right on the inside lip of my AGA tank. It has never shifted or come loose in the 1 year it has been on the tank. I have taken the stream out to clean it a few times and never had any problems with the mounting. I must be missing something because I had no issues when attaching the unit to my tank.

If and when your suction cups fail and a 3000gph pump launches across your aquarium and kills your corals and the pump is ruined because it ate sand I don't want to hear about it and you will be paying the repair bill not me.

rvitko - my problem is that there is 0 room for the outside the tank piece and the srews. My canopy is just a tad bit bigger than my tank.
