Mag QT Monitoring

I'm medicating some sick magnificas and decided to start monitoring them when I'm on the go. I'm just OCD like that. Anyway, since I have the camera running anyway I thought you guys might like to mess with it, and even comment on my little project. Lord only knows why but I'm even letting you move the camera! :P

hahaha that is awesome !

i love the idea. i have always wanted to see my nems during the day while i am at work and this idea hit it on the nail.

thanks for sharing.

next request: i want to monitor your tank, live :)

Also, i did not have a good result QT 2 sick nems in the same tank.

Wow... that's pretty sweet. I've been thinking about getting a couple of cameras, just not sure what to get.

As Pinkskunk mentioned, is there any way to get another QT going so you can separate the two mags? Right now, it looks like the one on the right is doing a lot better than the one on the left. You'd have to have the sick one (assuming it is) infect the other that could be healthy. I know it's twice the work, but I'm sure you'll agree that it's worth it.

Actually, they're both infected, that's why they're in QT. I've had them about 3 weeks now, almost 2 weeks in QT. The smaller one got diced by a powerhead when in a previous owner's tank, then the big one stung him yesterday. So he is having a bad time of it, but with good reason. If they continue to fight I will probably add a divider so they can't touch.

It's not about fighting, it's about each nem continuously getting the other sick. By separating the two, you can treat and monitor them individually. We know that it's common for nems to infect other nems. In your case, since one is weaker than the other, it may have a harder time fighting of the infection, which will spread to the other one. I recommend splitting the two -- if the weaker one dies, at least the other will still be able to fight off the infection on its own. There have been threads of people having a tankful of healthy nems, then adding a sick one and it wiping out the entire tank. The same applies for a QT tank.

However, since you've already had them in QT for two weeks, it sounds like they're on the road to recovery.

This is more for others reading this thread -- it's best to QT nems individually. I tried to help a friend who had six nems in his tank -- 3 gigs, 2 haddoni, and a mertensii (I know, he's nuts). He ended up bring me the remaining green gig (the other two died) and a red haddoni. The gig ended up making it with treatment, while the haddoni died. The mert and haddoni are still in his tank and are doing well. Just goes to show that mileage varies, but the key is to remove all possible variables -- meaning keeping each nem separated until they are healthy, then combining them.

That is very cool. I want one of those cameras. Very nice of you to let us operate it. To me they look pretty good. So the larger stung the smaller you said. I have two different clones and they don't seem to even detect the other. One has a purple base and the other reddish, so they are definitely not from the same lineage, but their tentacles will come in contact and there is not even the slightest recoiling. Anemones are full of mysteries.

I had the camera going up and down a d couldn't get it to stop at a good angle on my phone. First I was staring at the ceiling then I had it stopped staring at half an anemone. After 20 tries I got it back to a good viewing angle. Hard to time it right on my phone.

Didn't wanna leave it messed up for everyone else.

Yes, they are actually reverse of their original positions. The big one crawled over to the right side on top of the little one and the little one shriveled up pretty bad. He looks better now than when I first separated them.

You're lucky. I can log in but I can't see the video with my phone.
