Majano Wand.....it really works!

Good job! Do you have access to the hosting also? I would add "www" if you can... helps to make the url jump out a little better. If it's set up through GoDaddy, you can do it under "Forwarding" in the Domain Manager (under "Domain Information" section)... you may already know that though.

Adding www to a domain is not a good choice anymore. For SEO purposes you always want the website in the root of the domain (i.e. not www) if you do have a website with www you need to use a 301 permanent redirect from the non www to the www version of the site. You can find more info on Matt Cutts blog page. He works for Google =) The post is from 2006 and now the recommended (by google) website installation is in the non www

I disagree. It's a lot more user friendly to keep your website at www.website.com and just use a DNS CNAME entry for website.com to www.website.com. That way you don't need any redirects on the web server config and you have the same result. /end hijack ;)

lol... back on track ;)

I'm really on the fence about buying one of these. It sounds like the way it works is it changes the water within the cells of the pest into hydrogen gas...

"The Majano Wand does not kill by electrocuting the animal. It operates on the principal that when electricity is emitted into salt water it produces two gases. One of these gases is hydrogen and it is what is generated at the stainless steel tip. Hydrogen is the lightest element on earth and when the probe touches the Majano it causes the water in the cells of the animal to turn into hydrogen. These animals are mostly water so the animal just disintegrates."

I'm really curious if this will work on hydroids, and I wish I could find someone who may have given this a shot on hydroids before I shell out the money.

I'd be willing to pay for the use of this wand.. Or if a couple of you guys in the city want to go in on one please let me know. I figure if 4 of us go in on one its worth the 25 dollar risk.

Im in the western burbs but take the blueline downtown. i would not mind sharing the wand and being part owner. let me know if it would make sense to be part of the group buy.

I have used this on my aptasia and it works great! Kudos to PaulB on the product!

We are currently trying it out on hydroids and I'll let you know if there's any progress.

I would love to rent one for an evening to help the owner pay for it and see how it works. Or maybe buy one if I could get a few to rent it to help with the costs. Great idea but for occasional use, it's too much for me right now to purchase and use rarely.

IMO... 1 evening won't be enough, unless your aptasia/mojanos are TOTALLY exposed. If they are able to 'withdraw' into the rock, you CAN NOT eliminate them. Unless you 'burn' every single cell...they will return within days (if not hours)

.

I've been using the majano wand for a week or so now. I'm trying to zap the bigger aptasia, and let my peppermints clean up the smaller ones. My experience is that several applications need to be used for it to be effective as the aptasia quickly retract and total destruction is not always possible. I would estimate my kill rate at 25% of my attempts, though I am getting more adept at sneaking up on them. Overall, I think the device is well designed and very effective, but not for use in a single application. If anyone in the Rockford area or Geneva area would like to borrow one for a day or two to try it out, I would gladly lend it out. IME it does kill any animal that it comes in contact with, especially bristleworms:-)

For aiptasia, it is best to approach them from the side. It seems as if once stunned, they lose the ability to retract. Always best to continue until they are total mush and floating up into the water column. These also work on mushrooms and mojanos (their best and easiest usage)

Your 'kill rate' is much better than mine...I let a couple friends try it , and they also thought it was a waste of time. Unless you 'zap' every single cell of the aptasia it will be back. It takes 10x longer to try to zap them as it would to use 'joe's juice', or whatever!

I bought a $20 file fish that cleared my entire 300g QT system and 450g DT, in less than 2 weeks, and now I will loan that fish to my friends!

I had a friend do the zapping of the aptasia and I had a siphon going to suck out the death chunks!
