Majanos

How does one kill massive numbers of majanos? I don't want to hear about Joes juice, boiling water, kalk paste, etc. I have tried these things, and it's beyond that now. I need a natural predator of some sort that doesn't wipe out every other anemone in the tank. It's not that these are just ugly, they end up killing coral in the long term. I also think they release stuff in the water that is harming the tank. I want them dead. Is there any new magic to be found? Does anyone have a copperband that they know will kill them?

i need to follow this thread. Here's a bump. ive got a crapload of majanos, about 15 of em. i tried boiling water, didnt do anything

Here's what I have done.

Take a chopstick and break it in two.

Insert the broken end into a majano and twirl.

Works every time.

Unlike aiptasia, majanos won't reproduce from fragments.

Best of luck,

Roy

Do a google image search for majanos and you will see that majanos have more of a disk and tenticles atached kinda like a button pollup.

I used to have hundreads of them, the best way to kill them is using kalk paste, mix up a nice paste of kalk/ro water and then heat it up in the microwave, using a srynch and squirt it into the center and leaving all the pumps and power heads off for 1/2 hour, they will dissapear right in front of your eyes ... for the hard to reach ones you might have to take out the rock to paste them. It could be done, I did it for my 180 gal tank and it took me several weeks to get rid of all of them, you just have to use some elbow greese and keep at it or they will multiply.

Vinegar in a seringe works very good just poke it into the side of the Majonas and it will shrivle up and disolve
