As per above guys.. please advise.

Currently have:

1 copper band butterfly
1 algae blenny
1 Philippine Leopard Wrasse

Thinking of adding 1 Majestic. Tank dimensions are half a cube 30"x24"x30.

Thanks

In a typical 90 you might be able to get away with it though personally I think they do best in a 6 foot tank. However, with the dimensions of your tank I say, "Nope."

I have one in a 100 gallon, but it is 60x18x20. The majestic is a slow grower, so if you get a small one you could get away with it for a year or two, then youll have to give up the fish, or upgrade the tank. Hope this helps.

I have one in my five foot 120. As stated, it's a slow growing fish, but your tank dimensions are pretty restrictive. I wouldn't do it. It's an active fish that will use every bit of space.

I heard they were slow growers. But it doesn't seem right to get it as I will not be upgrading tanks in a year or two.

Thanks guys

is it even a "reef" fish?

Perhaps yes and no. Its found in the reefs world wide, and some people have had success keeping it with their corals/clams, inverts, etc.

that's good to know-

i have a 5 ft long tank, but already have a powder blue tang in it as a "big" fish.

i'd like to keep a majestic as well.

A 5 footer should do the job. Just watch that the tang doesn't harass the majestic.

I had to remove my Yellow Tang to a 'time out' tank after introducing my Majestic...I am VERY surprised at how timid this Majestic is

I've heard a lot of people say their majestics are shy. I think they're gorgeous, but I'm hesitant to get one if it's going to hide most of the time.

FWIW, my Majestic is not very shy at all. The only fish it occassionally chases is the juvie Blue Face. All of the other fish leave the Majestic alone and the Majestic leaves all of them alone.

HTH.

BTW, my friend has a Majestic in his 90 and it is the king/queen of his tank to the point that he has to be careful of what he adds to it from here on.

I actually found my blueface to be more secretive than my majestic. The BF I used to keep would bolt for cover the second someone walked in the room, and stay there peering out from the rocks. The majestic is more outgoing, and while it's shy, it will usually be out cruising the tank, even if someone is nearby.
What I've noticed with mine is that it gets really upset if anything new is added to the tank. I recently added a juvi mimic tang and the angel still has it's nose out of place. I'm watching for signs of too much stress as my experience and what I've heard from others is that angels do best if they are the undisputed boss of the tank. While the shyness is pretty much a charateristic of the species, individual personalities come into play as well. I think it is one of the prettiest angels available; doesn't grow to the big proportions as some of it's cousins, is relatively hardy, and has gorgeous colors.

Mine only eats zoo's. I found that out really quickly!! But it is in with sofites, and lps. It was really shy the first week, but now comes right to me when I come in the room. I would still call it some what shy though, at least for now. It is recovering from velvet, and has got to be the hardiest angel around to pull through this :) . I would love to have a breeding pair, but I dont know enough about them to try and pair it. Its nice to hear from other people that have them. Before I got mine I didnt hear to much of them. That is why I got it, lol. All I ever hear about is yellow tang, and clownfish!!! These guys are something different, and I think the price scares alot of people away. I know it almost did for me! Happy reefing,

Michael

Those of you with majestics, how are they with your clams?

Or, are you not keeping clams because of the majestic?

I have a large Maxima in with mine and it totally ignores it. The only time it nips at my corals is when there's flake food stuck to them. I can't claim long term success as it has only been in the tank since late October.

Thanks guys. I will not bother with a Majestic for my half cube 90 gal.

Will stick to fairy wrasses and try a dwarf angel instead.

Cheers
