Mandarin covered in ich (not mine)

I was at a LFS today, and they recieved a shipment in. And this particular mandarin was COVERED in ich. COVERED. He told me when they get mandarins, 100% of the time they are covered. I read they are fairly resistant to ich. Could this be caused because the LFS' supplier catches their fish using chemicals? If so, I'd never buy another fish from them again.

I cannot say why. However, most mandarins in my experience have been highly resistant. Where are they collecting from?

I'd be suspicious. These fish are very resistent to it---unless in very, very bad water quality or bad conditions in general. That means either he isn't telling you the truth (my lfs doesn't to my knowledge receive mandys in this condition) or his supplier is not the best going. Mandys this badly afflicted don't have a good prognosis, IME. I wonder if they're not treating them with some sort of dip that's blitzing their slime coat, or, worse, shipping them in coppered water. I'd be interested to hear from LFS owners/employees about this.

Well, I'm friends with most of the employees. Through playing poker together. And he even said when he askes where and how they are gathered. They are kept in the dark. Which set off bells in my head. Like I said, some of the employees are my friends, but I won't promote ruthless fish collectors
