Mandarin vs Candy Hog

In my 210 I have a Candy Hog that I've had since he was a toothpick and is now 3-4" and fat. Recently I put in a Mandarin. The Mandarin wasn't doing well and I kept seeing split fins on him. On Sunday I noticed the Mandarin up on the side with the Candy taking chunks out of his fins. I caught the Mandarin out and put him in the sump with my Chaeto. He seems much happier and is finally starting to exhibit some normal Mandarin behavior. The fins look like they're healing quickly.

But now I'm not sure what to do. I don't particularly want to keep him in the sump. The Candy Hog has also killed a Blood Red Shrimp, possibly two, in the past. And he sometimes chases around a six line.

Thoughts?

Sounds like a typical hogfish to me. It's not very likely he'll coexist with the mandarin at this point. You may want to think about re-homing the hogfish.

I have same issues with my large pair of hogfish.
He ignore the mandarin but he chase my radiant wrasse, leopards, Pylei and all the new comers .

That is why I am rehoming the pair

+1 on getting rid of the hogfish. I had one that went ape on everything in my 120g six months after I got him.

I also just got rid of my starry blenny today because it was attacking my mandarin. The next fish that messes with my mandarin will have to go as well...

I'm worried about the Hog going after a pair of Skunk Shrimp as well, so I'm leaning towards getting rid of him in favor of keeping the Mandarin.
