Manderin with fin rot

Tank conditions are par for thriving SPS tank.

Speciment aquired 3 weeks ago, spent 1 week in QT, recieved a freshwater (Ph adjusted to 8.0) dip for 5 minutes and then was put in tank.

Tail fin specifically shows symptoms of fin rot, fish seems otherwise very healthy and active. Only other fish in tank is a longhorn cowfish (non agressive).

What should I do?

Mandarins often pick up tags of rockdust and crap because of their slime coat, and it can adhere to the edges of the fins. They rarely get disease because of the slime coat.
Have you noted any actual erosion of the fin? Is there inflammation or swelling on the erosion line?
If negative on swelling, erosion, or inflammation, I'd suggest watching it to see if the fin diminishes or not.

Typical fish: All over the place until I need a good picture :).

Tail fin is completely gone. No swelling to note of.

Sorry: forum's been difficult to get running, maintenance issues.

If the fish's tail is missing, that's uncommon fast-moving rot, for sure: are you sure that cowfish is an herbivore? Erythromycin, amoxicillin, either one. Withdraw the fish to qt to dose: the stuff will kill beneficial bacteria in your tank, though it is also used as a red slime remover. Dose in qt, and again, I'm so sorry I lost track of you in the confusion.

A note: that's a gram-negative bacterium that's causing it. You need a medication that will treat gram-negative, whatever you can find at your lfs.

Thankyou Sk8r, the forums have been a little messed up lately. I will treat as you suggest. The cowfish shows no intrest in any thing but knocking snails off the glass, not to eat them, I think it's just a game.
