manila clams and storebought oysters...

SOmeone had a thread about getting manila clams from the grocery, warming them up, and keeping them as part of a fuge setup.

I've always had this foolish impulse to rescue these creatures from the ice beds and wonder if anyone has actually tried them in a display tank---after a dip to get parasites. I'm a 52g mh with lots of life, sponges, feed lots of phyto for a crocea clam, and just kind of wonder.

If they are literally on ice, I think they are already dead. I don't know what species these are but I don't think they will adapt to tropical temperature.

i just put 4 large cherrystone clams in my saltwater pond. they all buried themselves in the sand along with 3 other cleaner clams bought from saltwaterfish.com.

they have been in there since saturday & seem to be doing fine.

when clams, mussels, oysters are in ice they are not dead unless they are open. just like blue crabs they go dormant in ice but dont die.
