Mantis removal strategy

Hello,

Well, its official. I have at least 4 tiny mantis shrimp that hitchhiked in on my live rock. I am going to go with the freshwater dip. Should I wait a bit and see if they eliminate a couple of their own, or just have at it before they get to big?
Also, I should use dechlorinated water correct?

Thanks

I saw this in another thread and thought I'd share it. It may be the easiest, least "destructive" way to get the little buggers out. Especially if you put a small piece of shrimp at the end of the hose as "bait". It may take a couple of trys over a couple of days but it seems worth it.

I had one in my 55 gal reef and the first thing I thought of is man this will be expensive if he does what I read. so i got to work on figuring out how to get him out of the rock. well it actually turned out to be qiut easy. I took my syphon hose not the large part. just the hose about 1\2". and put it in front of his hole and started to syphon a little water out. once the water was flowing I put my thumb over the end to stop the water and sat there and waited tell he got very curois and started to push a rock up the hose. when I notice he was about an inch from his hole I let my thumb go and sucked him into a bucket.
I now keep him in my acrylic frag tank and feed him brine shrimp and mysis and he or she loves it. I really enjoy having him very fun pet to watch

You have lots of time. It will take a 3/4 inch Neogonodactylus over a year to double in size and even then it will be of little danger to any but the smalles snails and crabs. Generally animals this size feed on amphipods and other small crustaceans.

There are a ton of people willing to take them off your hands (or purchase) if you do not want them. Post your location and watch the flock of offers.
