So there's been lots of talk and a west coast trip I really wanted to go to but dang nabit I had to celebrate chinese new year with family. Gung hay fat choi, by the way :)

Anyhow I was looking at how people said low tide is a good time to go to tide pools and on this day it is at 1:40pm. I figure an afternoon outing would be great.

I would like to meet for breakfast maybe to meet each other first (or brunch) at a sorta-central location which I haven't picked yet because I don't know if it would be convenient for everyone. There's a Cracker Barrel out along 95 on the way (address to follow if it sounds inviting?) This would also be a good time to double check that we all have our saltwater liscenses and necessary gear on hand for the outing.

Sign up here and feel free to ask questions or share advice about this area, thanks!

March 3rd may work for me. I was originally thinking march 4th, but as its gotten closer was going to push to the next weekend. Will have to see whats going on with my classes and work schedule. I am in charge of a few things and dont know exactly when my boss wants them to be done.

haha - you guys missed out - should have went - but things happen - iam in on almost any trip - i had a freaking great time today and will be there on all most every outing there is to do

I would have loved to go, but if I listed all the stuff on my plate right now it would make YOU tired just hearing about it! Beside, tampa is a pretty long way for me to day trip. After I move sebastion and those areas to the east will be only 30 min!

How does that work?

I am actually going down to Bass outdoor world (in apopka there's one like it called mosquito creek but they aren't open on sundays) tomorrow ... Any tips on what to get?
I was thinking of some wading shoes, some form of net\nets .. i dont think i'd wanna used a casting net since fish would be too small- and if they weren't their gills get caught in it too often

I saw a portable livewell thats a bucket with a bubbler that runs on 2 d batteries for $50 there online and am wondering if this is different from the walmart version. Either one i would like ot get to have in the case of a powerout or what not anyhow so thats on the list

$50 sounds very pricey, i have buckes and a bubler, if that is all you were goign to buy for $50, then just use my stuff...alot cheaper(lol....free)

Ok get a sein net it doesnt have any poles with it but get the bamboo poles from lowes for poles to hold as you drag it throught the weeds. they are tought and dont bend.

make sure that whatever you use for poles with the nets is pretty durable- a few of us learned the hard way when the wood pieces snapped. just some FYI

I'm sure we could fill a whole other thread coming up with excuses to take a "sick day" :) .. as long as your boss doesn't read RC haha

Purchase the Bamboo Tomato stakes from Lowes, they are like 2-3$ a piece according to djrabbit. Yeah we definately learned the hard way about our sticks breaking. We will probably be good for going to St Pete that weekend too. Also, if anyone wants a couple of us are going to try Ponce Inlet on Sunday.

The title of thread is for Sebastian inlet so east coast this trip :)

Thanks for the tip on the tomato bamboo steaks! I will have to pick some up.

I had a successful shopping adventure this weekend. Picked up a 4x8 seine - though I am also contemplating on picking up a smaller hand net (like a bait net?) to have on hand. The seine has 1\4" openings I hope they aren't too big- but anything smaller than that might be too small\young to potentially take home anyway.

I also picked up some wading boots. My dad of course had to tell me the story of him stepping on a portugese manowar tentacle and the one where my mom was going to go clamming but cut her foot up on oysters- and of course my own experiences so hey, I can also wear these as part of a costume I have for parties and whatever.

I plan to get the bubbler bucket from sports authority but alas, stupid schoolweek is back =\

Okay I picked a place for us to have breakfast\brunch - I'd like you guys to chirp in if you wanna get up early and have breakfast more around 9 or if 10am is okay. We'll hash it out.
(not a morning person but can be for an adventure thats cool like this hehee)

I picked the cracker barrel that if you're in the general orlando area should be easy to get to, might have to go slightly out of your way if you come from the theme park area

Here's directions ^^

I think it will be a good idea on top of critter catching devices to make sure you bring sunscreen, water or some form of hydration and a packed lunch\snacks that are good for the beach. We can bring a garbage bag to make sure everyones trash gets cleaned up as well.

If you think I am forgetting anything please add it here. I know its still a few weeks away yet but I wanted to have ample time for everyone to be able to get everything they need together.

Cant wait to meet the people behind the screennames we've all been chatting with for some time now!
