Mardel Clout for Flukes

Has anyone used this product for flukes? It claims it treats other things, but specifically I want to know who has used this to treat flukes? I am blowing thru praziquantel powder trying to treat flukes I have with not much in the way of results. It contains Dylox which we all know has caused mass deaths at some Zoos and aquariums because of improper dosing

No experience in using it for Flukes, but for expected fin rot, but was recommend by LFS, several years back when I didn't know no better and I dosed and out of 5 fish, 2 survive (kole tang and bluethroat trigger). Since then, never used it again. Now that you bring this med up I haven't really seen it no more in several of my LFS in the area.

Why not just use prazipro? Seems that's the go to drug for flukes

No experience with it, but I would stay away from it personally. Dylox is an organophosphate (trichlorfon - same family of chemicals as Sarin and VX nerve agents!) and as you noted, potentially deadly if mis-dosed.

I am blowing thru praziquantel powder trying to treat flukes I have with not much in the way of results. Freshwater dips stress fish out way too much and have never been able to do a FW dip for more than 2 mins because the fish start laying on their sides. So I'm not a fan of FW dips. Currently Im doubling the recommended amount of Praziquantel powder, but fins are still beat up and I notice fin flicking

Are you certain you are dealing with Flukes. I know you said you don't like fresh water dips, but it's one of the best ways to positively ID flukes. It's quite normal for them to lay on their sides during the process and in my experience the parasites usually come off at the 3-4 minutes. Swelling of the parasite usually occurs in the first two minutes.

Is it possible the powder you have has gone bad or is ineffective? Maybe buy a fresh bottle of the liquid stuff?

I've never used the powder just the liquid form via prazipro which I order 2-day from Amazon.

Just got another 100g of the powder in a sealed bottle with the expiration date of 2020. I formalin dipped the female Griffis and she was thrashing her head at the surface of the bucket so I'm certain its flukes. These are flukes I have never seen before. They survived hypo and thus far have survived a month straight of treatments. Everyone eats but the bannerfish and Gem are beat up. Just two days ago I noticed the male Griffis flicking his fins. I will buy the liquid stuff but that only gives me two treatments with the 16oz bottle. I'm still not sure how I got them

Any chance you can check the lot #'s on the powdered praziquantel, I suppose it's possible to have gotten a bit batch.

On the formalin dip, was that in fresh or saltwater?

Bad batch.

You might also look for fluke tabs, that was the go to treatment for a long time, but I don't believe it is sold in the u.s. Anymore. Every now and then I see some for sale on eBay or in the for sale ads in the forum.

Fluke tabs have been discontinued, the replacement for them is Clout. Yes there is a lot number on the praziquantel powder, I will have to check with the company and see what's going on.
