Mark's 150 gallon

Can't wait to see some pics with the hybrid light mark:beer:
How many watts will it be in total?

Hi Mike,

it's a 6 bulb fixture with 4 T5 bulbs still operating plus 8 LED pucks arranged in two rows. So 320 watts T5, not sure how many LED. It's a scratch and dent which is fine because I like to hide the lights. Nice color. :D

The light is made by Dave Fason from Nanobox Reef. I've been toying getting a hybrid from him for over a year and finally this opportunity happened.

Yeah,i like the color too bud!Really cool and different!
The silver one is soooo boring after all these years:p
Can't wait seeing it in action, let us know your impressions.

I've been thinking of doing the same thing for many years but i'm too scared i'll burn down the whole block:p

p.s
did i tell how much i like the color?:)

Hybrids are all custom pricing. Usually you provide the unit and he guts and fixes it up. Mike, what do you think of the color? :spin3: lol, thanks.

So here's a few top downs that I had time for. Tank is running on lower PAR at the moment due to me slowly adjusting the T5 lighting in prep for the new light. Things doing well but I think some colors would be more vivid with more PAR.

I don't like this color combo so of course it will be the fastest grower.

Lots of flow on the Kentucky Bluegrass. This thing is worse than a birdsnest.

Remember that horrible song ... too sexy for my shirt? Got that stuck in your head now? Too sexy for my tank ....

It's not too sexy for my tank if you'd like me to come pick it up. :wildone: Loving the colors on your acros and your new light fixture.

Mmmmmm indeed!!!
I might be dreaming of a threesome.. :)

Beautiful shots!

Thanks Matt.

Centered here is the base of one of the blue stags. Over 3 or 4 days the base thinned and lost color and sure enough bugs spotted. A sure sign is that only a single branch was effected. I love the way the trochus blends into the rocks, I just now noticed him there.

Here is a healthy base. I'm having a time coloring these back up but week by week there is some progress.

Yet another unknown liking being placed high up in higher flow. THis was a broken piece I found in the sandbed during the tank crash. No clue what it broke off of.

I love millis but polyp extension in all my acros is so extreme I'm having problems seeing the color in many of them, especially the millis. Damn Coral Beauty is refusing to pick at them. :lolspin:

This is what happens when you put a tiny piece of slimer on a frag plug just in case.

From the frag racks, which I need to clear of duplicates ...

Green one is a UC Wild Orchid. When healthy is green with purple tips. Just recently lost all the brown but still a long way to go.

Centered should be a nice pink. Right now re-encrusting over dead areas, maybe next year it will look like something. The Lokani is making it cramps up front. Out of focus but you can see the cool tip and polyp color in this pic. If I aimed directly at it I lose these colors. #badphotography

Bigger frag here and the one to the upper right of it are what's left of two maricultured pieces. No clue what color they will be, other than green. Below right is all that's left of a UC Rainbow milli. I don't think it will ever color up but it's not dead yet.

Centered is a piece of spongodes I broke off. Quick grower but really prefers lower light. The piece mounted down at the bottom center of the tank is bleached badly. More importantly is below and to the right, a saved piece of blueberry capitata that looks fantastic when larger and branches start growing. It's not an acro but I'm super happy to have been able to save this.

Ending up here.

Miami Orchid looking better and better.

Obviously I need to work on some of the colors. While these are probably near the best I've ever had it still pales in comparison to the better SPS tanks out there. This is the first time I've been able to keep decent reds and pinks, but the subulata is still lacking in the vivid colors it had a year ago.

Mark, the color of your corals are FANTASTIC.

I am sure that with the new light a lot more will pop up.

Cheers
Daniel

Colors are going right off tap Mark, awesome rich pigments :)

I didn't know there was a dragon which is peach colored........... ain't no dragons in Aus so i'll watch your pretty little piece grow up instead

I have nothing this pretty, yum yum yummy !

This bottom one is also a stunner. Can't wait to see this grow out!
So, Mark, does this mean the bugs are back??

Hi Matt,

yes bugs came back but I never treated a second time so it may be expected. I think we know redbugs don't lay eggs but if these white bugs do then multiple treatments will be needed. Maybe? I plan to treat again regardless but I'm not sure how many days to wait.
