Mark's 150 gallon

Thanks Mike.

I used a Nyos Nitrate kit to double check my measurements. Color was right between 1 and 3 so using advanced maths and then double checking everything I came up with 2.

If you used a magnetic stirrer the result would probably be a lot clearer Mark....

Everything is looking great, colors and health of your acros looks awesome mate. Things will just keep getting better and better now so good times are a coming !

LOL,

thanks everyone.

Took a few end of the month pictures.

The "peach" dragon is looking, um, peachy?

The red dragon is putting on a lot of new growth but some branches near the base have dead tips.

Hey Mark, those corals looks very healthy. The tank is going well, you can see that on each picture. Now is a question of patient to see how those beauties fill the tank .... is big !!.

Well done !!!

Daniel

Dang Mark I love to see the turn around! Acros are looking great good work!

Thanks, it's a big relief!

Looking fantastic Mark!! It's so good to see your tank geting back to it's former glory :D

Thanks Dom.

Thanks Daniel, hope that knee keeps doing well.

 It's great to see your corals looking healthy again Mark. Some of the colors look good & you'll get all the colors back in time with stability.

I've had it take 2-3 months at times for colors to be at their best once they fall off a bit.

Looking great Mark, love the way your tank is bouncing back. I like the color of that Hawkins tbh, not a very common green and it looks like it's glowing.

Great update Mark, the tank is looking much better, and the corals are really starting to look great! The FTS looks really nice, open design will fill in nicely with your beautiful corals in no time at all, keep up the great work man!

Thanks all.

Everything is still ok but I just finished nuking with interceptor again. Corals near the sandbed started showing stress, then one of my blue stag branches really declined rapidly and, yep, all kinds of bugs on it. I bought interceptor for a reason, might as well use it.

I'm stubborn and never like to think I found the answer but these pests sure seem like they may be a primary cause. Corals mid level and above happy, corals in the frag racks happy ... seems oddly familiar.

I'll probably lose the rest of my peppermint shrimp so I will have to add some more.

Treatment complete, carbon back in, bugs are dead, snails knocked out but returning to life, and somehow yet again at least two of my peppermint shrimp survived.

This pill was a little different from the last, the spectrum contains praziwhatchamacallit as well as the primary ingredient. I think this might have helped a few fish, my runt (zombie) Chromis seemed a lot more active yesterday.

Great to hear the treatment went well Mark, i know you guys are used to it but i always worry for you lol. :)

I would use it if i thought i had bugs purely based on the experiences of you and my other mates who know what they're doing with acros ;)

Mark, I hope you've seen the last of the bugs! They are a total pita!!
We may be due for some new shots, now that treatment is done!
:)
Any excuse, really..

Thanks Andrew, the treatment always makes me nervous but the next day everything looks super happy. Maybe it's the flavoring? :D

Yea, I need to do some top downs. Colors continue to very slowly improve but I'm preparing to change to a hybrid light (4 80W T5, 8 Nanobox LED pucks) so I've reduced T5 lighting to 4 bulbs and letting the BML strips provide more PAR. Using the PAR meter and aiming for a little less PAR to make sure I don't burn anything.

I'm excited about the Nanobox pucks because they contain Lime in the white channel which makes it super bright to the eye without having to turn it up too high.

I have never been nervous about hitting tanks with interceptor, I have triple dosed with no bad effects on multiple occasions.

I too definitely notice increased polyp extension the days following.

Maybe I should add some raw steak to my next batch of blender mush:p

Was this an attempt to get rid of the predatory amphipods you had a while back? What dosage were you hitting it with ?

Tank looks amazing, great come back.

This is to the strange small grey bugs seen during the day and small white bugs at night. The symptoms start as scratch marks on corals and accelerate to masses of bugs in branch crevices. The Lokani was hit hard the first time I dosed, and for that dose I used 3 small dog tablets (slight underdose). Since then I obtained interceptor spectrum for medium sized dogs. This was my first dose with these tablets and I have enough to last for a couple of years.
