Mark's 180 Starfire upgrade

Sorry Brian, but I posted some new lens pictures on fb :p

I was thinking of shooting some this weekend, but I am still getting used to my new computer. Maybe next month ;)

I seen the fb pics. Nadia always asks me "who that girl, can she come over and play". They grow up fast!

Beautiful Mark like always. If you ever come to San Jose, I'd pay you to take shots of my tank and to populate my tank with corals like yours.

Even though I have been up since 2am mopping up 25-30 gallons of sump water, I still wanted to share the a FTS from last night. Today, two years ago, I set up this tank and just like two years ago, I wish I was in bed :(

Doesn't sound good...hoping for the best. Let us know when you can.

Leonardo, you need to get on facebook

I really do not know what happened besides my skimmer overflowed. I did not change anything on my wedge pipe and I did not even feed any oysterfeast or actipods, just PE mysis as I know the coral food makes this skimmer go crazy.

I came out this morning to basically a dry sump (usually hold about 40 gallons of water). The skimmer kept pulling more water and violently sending it over the sides. My wavy sea controller got soaked so that no longer works as well as our new throw rug is drenched. This all happened around 1:30-2am this morning :(

All I kept thinking is about the advice Steve Weast gave to the reefing community in his tank o' death thread. It allowed me to take a step back and think. Believe me, there were more than a couple moments when my brain wanted to over react, but luckily, I responded by taking a deep breath and decided what to do next. That's when I decided to develop the fts from last night :p

I knew I had 40 gallons of water in the garage that I was planning on mixing today anyways so I finished my water change before 6 am.

The only thing I could possibly think of was that maybe the tank had another coral spawning. It happened about 9 months ago and the tank water had the similar smell as before. The mesenterial filaments were also out, but I have no real proof. Today will be an interesting day to say the least.

Whats amazing was when my wife came out and saw me sitting on a bunch of soaked towels, she did not even give me the stink eyee; she just looked at the tank as the moon lights were still on and said "Just look at your tank, Its beautiful! Good night and see you in the morning"

--stunned-- She must have made it through all the steps to acceptance, huh?

Sorry to hear about mess, hope it's nothing serious. good luck with the clean up.

Awww man, that sucks! I hope I didn't jinx you by telling you my sump overflow stories yesterday! Your wife reacted the way I wish my wife did :love2:

Luckily you were still up at that time. Why did the ATB overflowed? I thought it had the float switch on the collection cup to turn it off in an event like that.

I wasn't up Kenny, I go to bed around 9pm :p

The float switch works if you have a controller that has the relay capabilities :( Blueline or Apex is the next question?

Thanks, its not the first time things have gone wrong and I'm sure it won't be the last :p
