Mark's 180 Starfire upgrade

Sorry to hear about the fish losses, Mark. :( The joc pair was beautiful, as was the naoko.

Thanks :) Luckily I still have one joc and the Blueline to be amazed by. If I decide to add anymore fish, I will try to add two more smaller jocs to have a trio, but thats a big if at this point.

What's with all these acronyms nowadays??? I am way behind the game.

I'm with you on that one! I assume the PPT means Paletta Pink Tip, just because I know he has one in there. Between all the acronyms and only using scientific names for fish without mention of the common name.....:spin3:

Sorry that some of us respect our fish and give them more credit than just calling them nemo; There are beginner forums for that :lol2:

"Nemo" is a stretch, although it seems common for the clownfish to go by their scientific names.
But for some of those wrasses and angels there are just sooo many, I'll just have to resort to:reading: instead of memorizing them all. I do respect my fish they are all very healthy and I don't think they care if I call them, for sake of discussion, a Mystery Wrasse instead of a Pseudocheilinus ocellatus.
Until I get a degree in latin (I suppose), or marine biology or I decide I want to learn to flex my scientific muscles, its off to the beginner forums I go. Thanks for the insult:thumbdown

Really? Sorry you took that as an insult. I guess you don't know me or my friends very well or the fact that there is more joking in this thread than anything else. As for common names, the post before you posted had two references to two common names.
Oh well, I guess you can't win them all

Thinking back... you guys do bust each others &@!!$ a lot all in good fun. I apologize for taking it the wrong way and getting defensive.

Thanks Dan, I tried to make this one a little larger than usual.

As for the fish, I lost my oldest joc and the naoko, just three days apart. Somehow the joc got stuck in between two rocks and the naoko jumped through the netting and bounced out off the back wall. RIP my friends :(
Dang Mark I really sorry to hear about both fish. :sad1:

Thanks Dan, With all the water changes I've been doing lately, my water is too clean for my liking these days. Maybe I will add some fish to poop on my corals some more :p

Not that it makes much difference to you but i do hope to see you stick around. Your tank have been inspiration to me well before your totm. I have taken many clues from your thread into my own tank. A close friend (you know him) of mine is having very similar if not worse problems than you have been through and it is a very sad thing to watch.
I also had a naoko get stuck in my netting 2 hrs after I paid a fair price from a fellow reefer. That was a sad day. The Joc was an amazing fish wish i could of seen it in person. Well best of luck and hope things settle down and you can find some inspiration!
I look forward to future picture of your tank with to many colors!!!!!!!!! Wait maybe I hate you!

Thank You for the kind words :)

Im sorry for your fish loss Mark... That is really hard sometimes. I also would like to see you stay in the hobby, but I know the dedication a Reef tank takes!

What fish are you thinking of adding?

Thanks Ryan, as you know me, I don't like doing something half way. With everything that happened with Tim and some of my priorities changing, I can't say either way I'm leaning. As for fish, nothing on your level ;)

Mark how are things looking? Hope the tank still has water in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The tank still has water in it, but since there is still no budget so it looks like minimum wage for state workers :(

Besides that, there are two more quarterfinals on schedule for today
