Mark - Have you looked into VSV + biodigest? I have found it a remarkably effective and inexpensive way to control nitrates/phosphates. I have taken my phosphate reactor offline as VSV is much cheaper than rowaphos (even the generic kind). There is a little up front research to understand the correct dosage, but in the end its very simple, 3 ml/day for my tank, then biodigest 1x/week.

I've tried it before and I've also tried staright vodka. I got similar results with both products, my corals lightened a bit to fast and I still have a couple that have struggles ever since.
On top of that, its been almost 8 years since I've had a drink so when I go pick up a pint of vodka for "the fishtank" there is just something not right with that. Besides, this hobby is about trying the next cool thing anyway

When my po4 was its highest, that is when I noticed the Vortech's dreaded Gen I rust issues. Since then, I have tried a lot. I guess the latest has been the addition of zeozyme and coral snow.
