Mark's upgrade to 120 Oceanic Tech

Really nice tank there. What's the large red/dark orange coral there just left of the middle?

I'm a firm believer that SPS grow best with lost of fish. You just have to have the mechanisms in place to remove any excess nutrients so nothing builds up on you (skimmer, carbon dosing, etc.). I also believe the SPS themselves help with the nutrient removal and the more you have the more fish you can have.

I agree with you on this matter, besides why would I want to have reef without fish or with very few of them? Natural coral reef has a lot of fish and beautiful colors. But as you said removal of nutrients with heavy bio load is a priority. That coral is an orange monti digitata. It has a very vibrant color under my lights,it is under KZ fiji purple bulb.

I just found this thread, and your tank is great. I'm upgrading to a new 70g Tech, and I loved seeing what you did with your Tech. Why don't I see you hanging out in the CMAS forum, with all the other Chicagoans, here at RC?

I am on this forum under different name than CMAS forum.I just posted a comment on your 70 gal .Tech build thread.

Well,I crossed over to the "LED" side.I ordered Apollo Reef LED's last week ,after reading some good reviews. Those are some nice units. They don't have all that bells and whistles, but I am willing to give them a try.BTW I did not brake my bank account on them.I will be doing some changes with my aquascape soon, to make more room for corals to grow, and then I will change my lights as well.I will post results how my corals are doing.Few pictures of those units:

So is the plan that these will be the only lights that you use?

Your tank has looked so amazing and you've had great growth I'm surprised that your tinkering with the lighting

Nice looking lights Mark. When can I expect to see them over the tank? Lol I'm curious if your growth and color is going to stay the same? Guess only time is gonna tell.

Mark i think i'm heading going with this company, i emailed them and before i could click back to this post i received a call from the owner. That is how you do business, he was very informative and this system is very affordable for me. Please post some photos and maybe this summer i will get a chance to come by and see it for myself.

I will do the change over in three weeks.I am kind of busy now with work.I also talked with the owner before ordering those LED's.Very professional and informative. That is why I gave them a chance. When is all done I will post pictures.Boxer385 you're always welcome to stop by.
