Mark's upgrade to 120 Oceanic Tech

What are you going to do with the remaining corals during the aquascaping? I did a mini reaquascape a few yrs ago and some of my SPS bleached. I may set up a 40 g to hold them during and a few weeks after the transition.

I have most of the remaining corals sold already ,for what is left I will set up a frag tank next to my main display. There is always a chance that some corals might bleach and not survive during a move.I did a successful move from my 65gal. to current 120 a year ago without losing a single coral.

Believe it or not I never did,but now I will finally get to it.The BB 3000 pump has been waiting almost a year.My original pump is still doing awesome job.I will keep it just as a back up.

Is there a reason you made the decision to switch pumps? The Vertex pump certainly looks like it was performing great.

I'm planning a 120 and the skimmers on my list are the Vertex IN-180 and Super Reef Octopus XP 2000 or 3000.

Well, there was a time when everybody complained about stock Vertex pumps.I decided to go with BB3000 as an upgrade, but since my stock pump is working great I never did upgrade, but I bought this pump. So,now it will be a good time for me to switch and see what this pump will do.I will keep my original Vertex pump as a back up.

What a great couple days for me.First I got a beautiful blue maxima clam for free from a good friend of mine and just couple hours ago my clowns spawned for the first time.

Holy smokes that is one nice looking clam. I can't believe your clowns are spawning already. Man the heck u putting in the water? Lol

Mark, I just spent the day going through your thread and really enjoyed your tank build! Glad to see SPS success with T5's. I'll be interested to see how the LED's work out.

Hey Mark, your signature shows "Apollo...LED" but I believe you are running TEK T5. What did I miss? What are you using for circulation and your opinion of the effect?
Wonderfull example of captive marine life!

Hi,I just switched to Apollo LED's about a month ago,no more Tek T5.My corals are getting used to new lighting and starting to look good again.I will post new updated pictures in couple of weeks. For circulation I use Eheim 1262 pump and two Vortechs MP40 on reef crest mode 100%. Flow is more than adequate in my tank.I will be changing some things in my tank soon, making more open aquascape,it will help even more with flow.

Lets see some new tank pics! I'm really interested in those Apollo's for my first tank build! Also, what color spectrum did you buy?

Hi guys,it has been a crazy week for me, so I did not have time to finish my aquascape and final coral placement.I will be finishing it slowly over couple of weeks.I got rid of almost half of my rock ,making it more open for future coral growth and fish to swim.Unfortunately I broke a lot of coral in the process, but have tons of frags for sale in my local community.Everything is doing good, some corals lost some color, others are doing even better.I am very happy with my new Apollo Solar Blast LED's so far. This is the only picture I have right now, excuse the frag racks in the tank, also there is still a lot of corals on the bottom that I need to find a spot on rock,so it looks messy right now..You get the idea of what I did with my aquascape.Light on the picture is blue leds only on,notice how some corals fluorescence.Especially my green slimer looks like bright green neon. When all leds are on the overall look is close to 10K-12K.I will post more pictures when finished with all rocks and corals.Enjoy.
