At this stage I had to leave to the airport for a 3 days flight.
came back to the following completed. they had to stop at this stage as the side colsets and stand covers would interfere with the tank move.

Finally the day the tank goes up on the stand. Luckilly we had a great tool to help lift it up.

At this stage one would think the worst is over, still as if I didn't have enough trouble with this build so far. While tunning the cabinets to have a perfect fit on the tank, the opening cover on the tank got tropped and hit on the tank to my bad luck.
Not sure if I should say tragedy happened or tragedy was just avoided:

Luckily it was only the top brace that was damaged and the front pannel was intact.
contacted teh builder and he should be in tomorrow to take it off and replace it.
The worst is that the plan to fill the tank on thursday will have to be postponed till end of next week to allow the silicon on the brace to cure. The Stand covers had to be redone as well so I'm left with this for a week or so.

That thing is massive. I was wondering what color it was going to be. Looks really good. As for thechip out of the glass, tragedy was definitely avoided.

will be wenge colored and the 2 closets just next to the tank will be metalic silver.
Yep if it was the front glass it would have been much worse. Hopefully itll be easy to take out and replace without further incidents tomorrow.

I agree that you are lucky the chip was in the support brace, it could have been so much worse. I really love the wood cabinetry, it looks gorgeous! :)

I know you have researched this, and I am crazy, ....but I am wondering if the stand will be strong enough to hold a 400 gallon tank? I have no idea how massive such a structure should be, but I would have imagined a frame with a thicker structure. I am a worry wart! ;)

Thanks Sue.
Stand is made with 4x4 cm steel with 3mm thickness whish was recommended by the experts on the show your steel tanks thread as well as the tank builder and a friend architect. Could have gone with 6x4 or 8x4 cm steel but then i couldnt find 3mm thick steel which apparently is even more important than size.

Tank builder came and inspected the chipped brace today and luckily as I thought it didn't affect the front pannel as well as the integrity of the tank. According to him we could just leave it the way it is. Still to be on the safe size, we just decided to add another brace on top and to sand and silicone the chip.

Wow breathtaking and very fancy wall unit. love your choice of ccolor. Any pics of the whole room and furniture to go with it? definitly post in the show your fancy wood stands thread.
Sorry about the glass luckily you didn't have to redo the tank.
This tank is screaming for water

Got the following suggestions:

Then the fear from a longer cycle and going through all the alga outbreaks again hit, so I finally decided to just go with the left island from below scape with Cermaics as it'll be the largest one so needing the most stacking of LR to accomplish the look. Notice hopw open the rock is from teh inside and that it only has few support points and is mostly above sand level. the middle and right side islands will be made using LR from teh 150G tank which is close to 12-13 years old.

Finally my Wall unit was completed.
this is the view I'll get

And from 2nd seating area, I do get much more view onteh tank than I expected from drawings.

And the open canopy showing all the access I get:

Now the front doors are supported each by 2 Pistons that can handle 630 Newtons. So around 70 Kgs (150 Pounds) much more than the doors weigh, at least each alone can support the door easily as we experimented yesterday. So hopefully that would cause no accidents in the future. I'm also adding some padding on the wood to make sure it stops on wood and not on glass when it closes. It does stop really slow even if you drop it but just thought it'd be safer.

Wow! What a classy piece of furniture, looks like it should be in a world class hotel lobby! When your tank is all set up, you will never want to leave your home! Nice design job!

I really enjoyed looking thru your tread I love the idea behind the wall design, what a elaborate design. Well carried out...

It is so inspiring to see how we do aquarium set-up around the world.

Good luck with it, it will be nice to see some water in the tank ;=)
