Matt's 5000ltr Display

A couple of pics of a new fish entered into the QT tank. A tri colour tang, approx 6-7 inches.

Sorry for the poor pics

Your setup is gorgeous. I am looking at the Laguna Max-flow 2900 for a smaller breeding system and was recommended to your build thread... I am amazed!

Whooooa! Thats an amazing tang. I hope it pulls through!

Thanks Kovy, he is a lovely fish. I got him from a shops display tank that was broken down. he is very friendly and was taking flake food from my fingers the first night. He has a great appetite and i fully expect him to thrive in the large tank.

Thanks Rort. You can do a lot worse than a laguna IMO, they have become quite popular over here for marine tanks. In fact over the last month or two their prices have risen seemingly because retailers are now aware of their uses in the marine hobby. As we all know if you add the word "marine" to any product it doubles in price. Thanks for stopping by and posting your compliments.

The Lagunas have been great for me. Just the other day i noted a slightly funny noise coming from my own so took it away from the pipework to check it out. Turns out there was a whole turbo snail shell, part of a fish bag and a rubber suction cup from a heater stuck in the intake, the suction cup had actually made it into the blades of the impellor. The pump wasn't really showing much of a drop off in flow, and i think only the addition of the turbo shell changed the noise from it to make me notice. Needless to say the intake now has some mesh attached over the end of the pipe feeding it!

Good call. I will make sure to add something on my intake as well!

Pretty boring update but an update nevertheless.

Added an air dryer to the ozone.

Ozone generator and MV controller need to be more spaced from each other.
Otherwise, the generator will affect the work of the controller.
Very nice design:).

Hi jjablonski

The probe for the MV controller is 3m long and will sit in the weir of the tank far away from what you see in that pic. I need to get some silicone tube for the actual generator so I can hook it up to the skimmer that sits to the left out of shot.
With the probe far away from the generator would that be ok?..or did you mean that the units have to be further away from each other.

I loaned this mv controller to a fellow reefer who was having problems callibrating his unit. I posted it out to him and Royal Mail managed to lose it so I need to buy a new unit anyway!

The units (Mv Controller and Ozone generator) have to be futher away (50 cm / 20'' would be ok). If Ozone generator is to close mv controller then controler value jumping.

Sounds like electromagnetic interference - not a very well shielded device if it does that. Or ozone leakage - I have seen ozone leakage in laser printers cause all sorts of problems with other devices nearby.

Thanks for the heads up jjablonski...when i get the replacement equipment I will add more distance between them.

I just read your whole journal the last couple of hours. An amazing build and you DIY skills are really impressive. I also love the stickers that say don't touch my tank!

Hi Vadimshevchuk. thanks for taking the time to read through the thread and thanks for the compliments, the photos must make my DIY look better than it actually is!
My wife bought me those stickers after I started to use one as my avatar. She also had a large one printed on a plastic sheet that will be mounted on the door into the fishroom when i get chance to finish that area off.
Thanks again for stopping by.
