Matt's 5000ltr Display

Matt just got to say that is awesome buddy, it has taken a long time to get here but you have just beat every build I have seen with this vid, I can't wait to see this reef in a few years time, I can hear everyone else saying the same thing lol
The things that matter take time and effort and you for sure have done both mate!
I would love to see a time laps video done over the next year or so lol

Awesome buddy keep up the good work will be able to take Jason's take on one day????

Have fun
Glen

Hi Glen..hope youre well mate...the family too!
Thanks very much for the compliments..they mean a great deal coming from you and Jason. I dont fancy your chances of seeing a time lapse video over a year!!..this one was such a PITA over a few days!
If I can get this tank half as good as yours or Jasons I will be happy..how is your tank? Ash told me you were considering LEDs (again) Your UR thread hasnt seen an update in ages IIRC...get some pics up..of Jasons tank too!

This.....Is.....Awesome!

I knew this tank and you could produce an aquascape to rival the best out there. I know these pictures are not conveying the depth you have to this aquascape and I'm sure it's 100x more impressive in person.

Bravo, my friend, bravo.

Thanks very much Cyclist...youre very kind. I hope that coral growth and even sand will highlight the front to back depth a little more

Thanks elvischam

well the tank is full..ish

and I tested for chlorine this morning and there isnt any :)

So I can now get some sand in there and get it cycling

Matt, If you are using RO/DI water why would you need to test for Cholorine? Was that just to make sure the unit was working or did you have another reason for test for it?

Hi Krazie

I am using ro/di @ 0 tds. My reason for testing chlorine was because I had bleached some of the rock and used de-chlorinator before scaping. I just wanted to make sure the rocks were not leaching anymore chlorine and that it had evaporated before I went any further.

That's what I was figuring but wanted to make sure. I wasn't missing something. Thanks Matt

I've been browsing this forum for a while without really posting but I have to for this build. It's positively awesome, well done. It's clear to see alot of time, effort and planning has gone into it and I hope it repays you for all your hard work.

Have you put this up on UR for the uk reefers? I'm sure it'd cause a stir.

thanks whitearmy..very kind compliments..cheers

I havent started a thread as yet on UR. I have a thread on a smaller UK forum but it has been such a long build and we are in general an impatient breed so I didnt want another thread with countless "is it wet yet" posts. RC seems a little more forgiving when dealing with a build this size..or atleast more accustomed to a build this size so there is an appreciation of the time it takes.

I will start one on UR soon.

This is unfreakinbelievable! I love the way you hid the piping with the rock. The way you have taken your time and documented this build is second to none. I have been following this thread for a while and I have to say you are a real jack of all trades. Really nice job!

Matt - congrats on the fantastic aquascape and getting the R/O in there!! WOOOOOT!
I officially nominate that video for a Reef Central Oscar! I'll speak with the nominating committee right away and see how many categories you'll be eligible for!

Just saw the video and very impressed with the scale of this project and skills being used. Excited to be along for the journey.

Hope you'll get lots of frag offers from generous RC members to help fill your mini ocean across the pond :))

BTW, reason I could not view video, IPAD? Welcome to Mr. JOBS proprietary world ....

Matt, This is the coolest build I have seen in a long time! Good work mate!

Thanks Martin!!

Arh..the ongoing argument between Apple and adobe rages on. Apple were supposed to be launching some sort of rival resolution independent format to rival flash but nothing as yet. Thanks for the compliments.

Wow inspiring

Thankyou silver17jo

Any Updates? did you get the sand in?

I havent been able to get the sand in yet. I have been stuck at work pretty much since filling the tank. I have the return pumps running and I have been tweaking the flow from sump to tank. I have dialled down the pumps as when they were at full capacity there was too much water cresting over the weir and I want as thin a slice as possible.

I also need to adjust the calfo loops slightly because the jets that pointed down were taking most of the flow. The jets I have positioned to disturb the water surface have loc line nozzels and 3" flares on them. These slight restrictions means the water's surface isnt getting as disturbed as much as I would like. Its a simple plumbing fix though, given the time.

I have decided to drain the tank of the RO that its had in it for a few weeks. I was going to add the sand with the ro in even though it would mean getting the wet suit on again. As I havent had time to do this as yet I may aswell let the ro soak up as much from the rocks as possible, pump it out, add the sand and re fill. It took 4 days to fill with RO so in the great scheme of things its no big deal. It will make the plumbing amends to the calfo loops a little easier too.

Looking amazing Matt, love the scape man.

Thanks Brett!!
