im getting my new powerhead for my nanocube 12 dx today. I have had the 900 on my other dx and want to try more flow in the 1200 this time. Will it be to overpowering? What do you think about the whole situation?

Thanks

I doubt it will feel overpowering to your tank or livestock. If you would like to reduce the flow a little, and add random flow, try a hydor attachment to it. The increase in watts and water temperature would be a concern for me too. The 1200 is more than double the watts. HTH

I just put a maxijet 900 in my 14g biocube tonight . I can not imagine putting a 1200 in it. The 900 seems more than adequate.
Is your's to replace your stock power head or in addition?

I have a 1200 in there now and the flow is fine. I have a Y fitting with 2 nozzles for the outlet.

I also have a 900 around that I may end up putting in during the warmer months, but right now it seems to be doing just fine. 78 degrees even with 72w of PC.

I was running a Rio 6HF (15 watts) but it was too bulky for the back chamber and caused some rattling noise. With that pump I was about 2 degrees cooler.

So needless to say, the 1200 has a significant effect on the temperature of the tank.

I've recently set up a 20 gal and I put a mj 1200 in it. Its like a cyclone in there. I can't imagine what it would do to a 12 gal.

i just put in the 900 and sand, and it has great flow. It is perfect. The guy at the lfs said to only have 180 gph because that is 15 turnover, but i think that is too little. Also, i wouldnt trust him, he uses the stock pump with 2 percs, 1 cromis, 1 cardinalfish, and 1 blenny with an anemone in an nc 12.
