Maxi-Mini At Petco?

I have seen some maxi-mini anemones at the petco close to me. They look really good and in good condition. My question is, as hardy as they say they are, you think it would be safe to get them? This petco isn't to bad but not the greatest either. I have seen some nice livestocks and corals there in the past.

petco gets a bad rap overall but there are some petco stores that are pretty darn good.
it just depends on the person working there and their knowledge level.
i have bought from petco myself and some of my favorite fish and corals have come from
there. Awesome prices too since my local stores will allow bickering on the price as well
as letting me take home ORA corals that are not making it in their store.

Examine the livestock, consider the price, and buy it if you feel you will like it.
You will probably give it a better home them the average petco shopper if you know
what I mean.

I've picked up 2 at PetCo so far. Both needed a little photo acclimation since they were both under single T12 tubes, but they're both doing absolutely fine now.

i haved picked up 5 so far for thirty dollars a piece. all 5 look totally different and there is two guys there that know some things not a ton but enough to steer people in the right direction if someone has no clue. great thing is you get a part time kid that has no clue when they are busy and tell them that the mini maxi is a mushroom frag and get it for 5 bucks.

Last time I was there they had 3 nice ones. The only things kept me from getting them was no room in my reef tank. Now that I got me another reef tank going, I am going to make a maxi-mini anemones garden. I also got 2 of the nicest TR ocellaris clowns from them. I have seen a lot of ocellaris clowns but none as nice as the one I got from petco.

I got a maxi there, its great, also picked up a platinum clown that they "accidently" ordered for $100 bucks, doing great as well.

I got my maxi mini from petco about 2 months ago for about 35$. has done fine in my 55, everything i have bought from petco has done well. the fish there have ich frequently but overalll good stuff

One of our Petcos is notorious for having MaxiMinis and other nems and selling them as condis. :)

Other than that, I have two local Petcos that are fine to buy from, two that really aren't and one that stopped carrying salt water.

i have bought all of my livestock from petco and havent had any problems, but i have been to some petcos that arent so good. like other people have said it just depends on who is running the saltwater department.

Like everyone else said, it all depends on the store. I've bought nearly everything in my tank from Pet Supplies Plus. The local store here is very good, and the prices aren't bad either. If they look healthy....give them a try.

i would if i wasnt in California...lol...

Go to reef connections on mangrove or Fish Etc. on forest. I haven't been back in town for awhile but the last time I was on leave I visited both and both seemed to be decent. I didn't ask many questions though as I knew not much would survive a 8 hour trip back down to my base. Fish Etc. has been around a while and when I was younger it was the only place I would go, it used to be pets etc. across from Whitmier. Chico is my home town and I frequent there often as I am not too far away.

unfortunately, fish etc. closed down about a year and a half to 2 years ago... i like going to reef but im not looking to spend 40-50 bucks on a maxi, lol... i prefer to go to roseville when i get the chance just because theres alot more stores there and in sacramento...
