Kingston (just across the Puget Sound from Seattle) :)

Its beautiful up there, I like to do more traveling in that area sometime. How are the LFS in that area ? are there any worth visiting ?

The LFS is no where near in comparison with what I was used to the Bay Area but there are a few decent shops to visit. One specific is Barrier Reef in Renton.

It is beautiful up here and is one of the main reasons why we moved up here.

Does anyone have a sureflow on a MJ1200 that doesnt make noise? It seems like all the 1200s are noisy.

i got home and its been quite. no noise only when they go off and on cause i have them on a wavemaker for 10 minutes. maybe the startup will quite down even more as the days go by.

here r some pix

Are the new larger Sureflow kits still using the one piece shaft/propeller? I wonder if they finally got wise and took my advice to them on that and make the propeller interchangeable.
They would sell a lot more of these things if it came with interchangeable props.

alright so this morning i hooked up the Sureflows to my 2 MJ 900s and they are kicking butt! no complaints, completely silent, strong, broad flow!
it was a snap to put together here is the how to:

before in the tank

take it out

sure flow pieces out

Looks good!

May I ask what size/strength magnets you are using?
I'm wondering what magnets to get for my 120G glass tank.

AquaPython,

Do you think the 60lb pull mags are enough ? 85lb pull magnets on a glass tank make me nervous ...lol

somebody else posted and said the 60s were fine. these are all i have to go with. there is no danger to the glass if you hold the pump in place and slide the other magnet on the outside of the glass laterally across the glass surface toward the pump.

i have 1 85lb and one 60lbs and Aquapython is right as long as you slide the magnet into place across the glass you should be fine.

What size to replace K2 or Nano

What size to replace K2 or Nano

I just found out we can order them in the Great White North now:D
Seeing they can be used on a WaveMaker I am thinking of getting couple to replace my K2 and Nano 6025. I would like a little more flow than what I got now ... they will be used near the top of my tank where all the SPS are... the closes colonies are 3" to 6" to the PHs.
What will be a good size MJ replacement kit to get? the 600 or 900 or goes crazy with the 1200 (which I think will start peeling the SPS)
Looking at some of the pics...can't they be fitted (i.e. the ball joint ) onto the K's magnet mout?

I dont think it matters which MJ you get. From what I understand, all the MJ's are supposed to give you about the same flow. And if that's the case, I would get any of the MJ's but the 1200, cause it uses like twice the watts.

That's not entirely true. There is some slight differences bertween the MJ400 and the MJ900/MJ600 magnets that won't allow the MJ400 magnet to spin certain propeller for example. The MJ1200 also has a much stronger motor (hence more wattage) and could spin the Dumas 3004 (1.75" diameter) propeller whereas the others won't.

I was talking about using the MJ's with the Sureflow kits.

it still will be a difference in flow by much. the kit stating 1600 gph from any mj is wrong. you wont get 1600 from mj400
